1931 Ford Model A Woody driving around Gilmore Auto Museum grounds, how it all started

One of the Gilmore Auto Museums wonderful stewards/volunteers, Jim. He took me for a ride around the grounds in this 1931 Ford Model A Woody.
The grounds are landscaped so beautiful, the buildings and barns are so breathtaking, it’s all on 90 acres and Jim gave the history of how it all started and other fun information on the drive!
It’s a great story told while listening to the sounds of the Model A motor!
If you haven’t been to the Gilmore Museum, make a date, go there for vacation, you won’t regret it, you’ll actually need 2-3 days to see everything and a really comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Jim drove my wife and I around as well. What a gentleman! He took a pic of us in the car, gave us a wonderful tour. Watching him down shift so smoothly (like the transmission was synchronized) was like watching an artist paint. Thanks for sharing this ~ Chuck

Jim is a great tour guide. He does enjoy driving the Model A's around the campus. The Gilmore has a lot of volunteers to help keep the hobby going. I'm kinda partial to the Model A museum, but Gilmore's is a great place to visit. Thanks for coming to Model A days and sharing your videos.

I paid several visits to the Gilmore Museum while staying with friends over in Shelbyville. A magnificent facility with great people and a very warm welcome.

@@Modeltshinn I should mention that I'm from England and was delighted to see the red, double-decker London bus that appears at about 2:20 in the video. The bus and I were contemporaries in London in the 50s and 60s. Aside from that, the standard of the exhibits at Gilmore's is superb and for someone who grew up in the motor trade, the experience was a delight.

Super nice man, Jim really has a wonderful Model A Woody. The Gilmore Auto Museum is a fabulous place, so much to see and enjoy. Thanks for bringing us along Model T. I hope you and Paul are doing well, looks like you two are really enjoying this visit. Maybe some day if they have a Model A event closer to me, I can go see it and hopefully you all will be there. Anyways, I enjoyed watching and I hope your day is great!

As you know Tina, my keeps working overtime all the time. I'm thinking as you drive around in this fabulous station wagon, how great it would be if someone took the wood parts to make the body of this model and make it out of say, a plastic material so that driving it in the rain wouldn't be so bad for it. I mean, using 3D printing for all the detailed parts and make them look like real wood. Just a thought. I'm still looking into getting a scale model of an A and building it. I'm thinking a two door.

I guess it just depends on how you feel about keeping them as original as possible or not, if you’re like me and Paul, we try to keep our Model A’s as original as possible and only put something more modern if absolutely necessary 😁💗
