1932 MG ‘M’ Type - Jarvis bodied
When it made its debut at the 1928 Motor show, the little ‘M’ Type met with instant acclaim. Weighing just 10cwt the M Type was a spritely performer and capable of a genuine 60mph - quite an achievement for a car of just 850cc at the time.
A simple formula, being based on the contemporary Morris Minor, this attractive sports car was to pave the way for a long line of highly regarded models that were to achieve numerous successes in all types of motor sport.
The vast majority of M Types were fabric bodied versions by Carbodies, although the final versions were of metal construction. A small number of chassis went to independent coach builders, such as Jarvis of Wimbledon, and it is one such example we offer here. This is the only metal bodied Jarvis M-type known to survive.
These ‘Jarvis’ bodied cars have a bigger area of luggage space behind the two seats, instead of in the boat tail of standard cars.

The engine has been upgraded with a Phoenix crank and ‘12/12’ camshaft and inlet/exhaust system. She is also fitted with a period 4-speed gearbox and remote (original gearbox and inlet/exhaust system are available for anyone wanting to return it to standard specification)
