1933 Ford 3 Window Coupe Hot Rod Found In A Local NEWSPAPER!!!!

The stars have aligned and Matt got a lead on 1933 Ford 3 Window that was listed for sale in a local farmers newspaper. The car just so happens to be about an hour from where we delivered the Trans-Am, and the trailer is empty! Matt and Mike rush down to Hanover, Pa to take a closer look at the car and hopefully be able to bring it home. After some touch negotiation a deal was struck and the 3 window is headed back to ITG. After getting the car back to the shop, Matt does a much needed tire swap to get the right look, and pulls a 34 grill off the wall to help start to envision the plans for this project. We have some big ideas for this one, but Matt wants your input. Out of all of the spare motors we have sitting off to the side ready to go, which should go into the 1933 3 Window Coupe??

Fantastic find ! I'd go with the flattie - no blower, no Ardun heads, just a dual carb manifold. Early 50's all the way.

Your cool '34,your engine choice. NOT big power! No supercharger,no nitrous. It will be a driver, not a drag strip monster.The differential will love a flat head.

Morning Matt It's a great new project. I say ,old school style go with the Flathead . It reminds me of what guys were doing back in the late forties . Working with what they knew and was available . You definitely have enough of parts to make it back to that period.

You guys are great!!! 55 years ago, we bought home a 32 Plymouth three window coupe out of a field. Rather, it was free as the owner wanted it removed. We knew nothing about how to restore it. It was tremendous fun. Finally, by buddy’s parents wanted it removed from their driveway. My parents said ‘no’ as I already had a restoration project in our driveway. We ditched it in the woods. Those were the days.

Love that you are respecting its soul and character. Any Idea what power plant it had in the day. If you can figure that out It would definitely affect my vote. I like either the Flathead or the Olds- both feel “old school correct” to me.

Matt! This is your dream car. It has to have your dream engine. Flathead with Ardun heads and a Scott blower. What carbs you use on top would just be icing but, I know you will keep it period correct. Have fun building the dream.

A '34 3 window is my bucket list car. So I would go all the way with it and put in the bucket list engine, Flathead with the Ardun heads and the Scot blower. Might as well put all the goodies in it as one crazy over the top package!

Hi Matt, That is awesome, 20 years ago I ran around the country buying old tin off of ebay, back then you could still find them at a decent price, I remember that great feeling about scoring another car / truck. I worked on one, a 33 Plymouth 4dr sedan, and ended up selling the rest when my health went south. My two favorite ones I sold was a 31 Dodge 3 window I paid 2500, and a 35 dodge pickup truck that i got for 2000, both of them from California.. Anyway getting older now, I like your videos,.

I think a very early Poly Hemi, which had a cult following in the mid 50s, loaded up with early speed parts would be cool as hell and match the cars personality. Just Please, not a another small block chevy.......and I'm a chevy guy saying that. Lol

According to Facebook...top fan here...The Olds goes in the 32 5w. The Sweetheart Roadster already has a Caddy motor. You said yourself an Ardun/SCoT set up would be for a 3w and now you got it! Do it!

Sorry, wire wheels are pretty but hot rodders got rid of them as soon as they could when solids came out. The strength advantage was what the rodders wanted instead of beauty, :) The speeds they were running on the dry lakes just wasn't safe with wires.

@@jongolliher3806 Yeah solid wheels are generally stronger, but there's no rule that says you had to run on the dry lakes for it to be classed as a hot rod. Wire wheels were used plenty on hot rods, and still are. There are a lot of photos to back that up ;).

Great find ! Old hot rod lives again! As the grandson of a former Studebaker dealer, a Stude engine would be a nice twist. Having worked for Ford for 21 years, the flathead speaks to me too. Dog am I conflicted!😆😆😆

Back in the day my husband said as soon as an Olds was put in a junk yard some hot rider would buy the engine it to stick in their old Ford . The next engine to put it would be the Caddy followed by the Stude. My husband favored Pontiac overheads. GO WITH THE OLDS.

THE HEMI WOULD LOOK LIKE A REAL HOT ROD .......BUT THE WELLAND FLAT HEAD WOULD FIT THE BILL FOR THE RIGHT TIME THAT IT WAS FIRST BUILT ......BUT IT IS YOURS I JUST LOVE THE SHOW ..I USE TO BUILD RODS NEVER EVER RESTORED JUST RODS ...GREAT SHOW

Its pretty obvious your a traditional flathead in a Ford tragic, that would be the cool thing to do. But definetly keep the blown hemi for when you build a willy's gasser one day like you talked about recently! haha 😉

Having grown up in the 50's and 60's very few kids had bucks for blowers. You have a great collection of era engines and "go fast" parts like multiple carbs etc. Engine picks were flatheads, Caddys, Olds and Chevy. In the late 50's and 60's it was a SB Chevy with a Duntov cam. I grew up in the Central Valley of Ca. Lodi/Stockton area! You have a great piece of hot rod history...live it!

1958 I was 7 yo, I went with Dad when he bought his 1930 A Tudor. That's when I got stung hard. At a local shop he had the banger rebuilt and bearings poored. It ran like that for a couple years till his 1953 Rocket 88 went into the Model A. So I lean towards the Olds BUT LOVE to see the Hemi find a home anyway GREAT FIND and I'm glad you're keeping the history of the old HOT ROD!!! You gonna raffle that one too right? 😁I'd do the Scott blown ARDUN flat head for sure, you said you were saving those heads for your dream 34 3 window. Would be great if this cars history came to light like the other 34. Funny how as soon as that one is almost finished up a new 34 comes along. A postwar late 40s style hot rod built around those heads would be great! Both are hard to find would be neat to see together. Matt gets a keeper car and We got content for the foreseeable future. Win win. Besides if the ARDUN goes in the coupe it leaves no reason not to put the Hemi in the meat truck. 👍

Nice find, Matt. I love the chop on this one, the shape of the window openings is beautiful, as is the rear of the roof. Whoever did this had an eye for it. Power plant? Well, I get a 1958-ish feel off of your car. I seriously doubt that the previous builder was thinking flathead of any kind, and as cool as a blown hemi is, I feel that would entail Olds rearend, spindle mounts, etc. I'm getting the Olds engine vibe on this one. A Buick nailhead would work too.

What’s up ,saw this car in my travels last week. I rubbed my hand across those welds just like you did. Definitely a really rare cool piece. Old Lester certainly was not gonna budge. He is a great guy. Would love to have it. But to many projects all ready ,to much money to shove in a container until when ever. Glad to see you got it. I like your STYLE. Leave what is be. Plus you have a passion for it . Not into the perfect Hot Rods as much myself. Just paying to have it all done. I have watched a lot of your videos just not every week. Can’t wait to see what you do. Definitely with out a doubt put the 8BA in there. FOMOCO all the way. Nothing like living your own dreams. Good luck , I also agree with you on screwing up a perfect original to HotRod. That’s what makes this one sooo cool. Clean pallet create your art my man. The A on the front lawn was cool as well. Drive it as is.
