1937 Austin 7- Trying to drive my dads Austin 7 for the first time in 20 years! 

The 747cc engine fitted to the later Austin Sevens, like the Ruby this car is based on, produced 16.5bhp.

This car, parked NEXT to a REAL, full-sized Bentley, must have caused a sensation at BROOKLANDS, where the Bentleys had many successes in races!

I did have a 1936 Ruby and my 1929 chummy is smaller inside. The Ruby should be a a 4 speed box.. I'm 5 ft 7" However. the chap that bought the Ruby from me was 6ft 2" and was just able to drive it away.. I guess being a short ass has its avantages sometimes.. Loved the video.

Very nice conversion. Mine was a Ruby based special but (ahem!) somewhat cruder. Always wanted a Speedy😊

Do you realise you could UP the performance, AND retain most of the originality - by fitting a (later) EIGHT - Fifty Reliant engine? Reliant took over the Seven's engine, and changed it to O.H.V., and increased the power.

You need to convert it to AUTOMATIC and dispense with that cumbersome gearlever - which has no right to use up room, in such a confined space!
