Though not anywhere near the top of lists which rank the “classic” Warner Brothers musicals of the 1930s, “Ready, Willing and Able”(1937) did a great job of showcasing one of Johnny Mercer’s finest lyrics, including a song & dance on a giant typewriter set piece (film clip available on RU-vid). Jimmy Brierly is vocalist on this pleasant Reisman arrangement, though it was Bing Crosby’s recorded version with the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra that purportedly outsold all the rest ( • 1937 HITS ARCHIVE: Too... )
