1937 Lincoln Zephyr 🏜️ Ian Roussel Continues Install of Rear Leaf Spring Mounts 📐
Ian Roussel continues the install to get this Zephyr on Planet Get Low. Ian has once again come up with some ingenious ways to install the rear mounts.
Ian Roussel wants this car very low, he arranges an approximately 10 inch static drop in the new suspension design.
The Backstory:
Desert friends turn Ian and Jamie on to a find of a lifetime, A 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. In the kustom community, friends are EVERYTHING, as is sharing finds and resources so that we all can carry on the tradition and legacy of kustom culture. The kustom family has come through once again, and Ian and Jamie found themselves deep in the desert at an estate sale that was only invite only. This car could have went to the highest bidder, but instead went to The Roussel's to take loving care of it. Tune in to see what Ian and Jamie's plans are for this beautiful and rare car. The car has no cancer, no collisions, and most of the exterior pieces are included.

You can put a piece of sponge into the hole saw and soak it with cutting fluid so as you cut and compress the sponge it squeezes out the cutting fluid and helps cutting the metal and extends the holesaw life.

His skill set is amazing and watching him create using bits and scraps shows, that he builds things and not buying bolt on gadgets ,to cover for no skill , .He has it all style ,skill ,teaching ability ,knowledge ,his own show and a pretty talented camera toting beautiful wife ,to top it all off .Oh yeah great hair too

Flip those shackles and you can get another 3 or 4 inches lower. Simply mount the shackle pointing down. Pre-96 ford pickups were like this from the factory. Of course then the shackle pivots opposite and you may need a bit more room in the body.

Ian, instead of cutting your front spring perch mount to clear the driveshaft might it better (and stronger) to salvage an old two piece driveshaft and mount the center support bearing to the front spring perch crossmember. you would have to use the rear section slip joint. This would allow the front piece of the shaft to be "fixed" and let the rear section telescope as the suspension travels. Of course you'd have to shorten each section to fit. Let me know what you think.
@65cj55

Easier to just do the driveshaft loop, and a one piece shaft.

A gusset is a support. The fabrication around the top of the shackle is a cap so as Ian left the angle on the end cap of the 2x2 tubing he created a gusset.to help support the structure. I see the training for shadow has begun it helps to have little treats while in training. Just saying. Take care guys.

You could also hang the rear shackles above their mounting points weather it be the frame or an extension running from the frame or between the frame. Some older model fords did a version of this and it would provide a way of making the rear lower.
