1939 - Paris City tour (1/4) (Remastered, Colorized) 

World War II broke out when this video was shot. Later, Paris fell into the hollow of Nazi German hand. This was the last moment of freedom for French people until their emancipation.

Random thoughts. There were some interesting looking characters in the crowd. I wonder how all those people fared during the war. All adults are dead by now. Most are likely gone between the 70's and 90's. Perhaps the kid in the pram at the beginning is still with us, or the two little girls crossing the street at the end. They should be pushing 90 right now. None of them had any idea that these moving images of them would survive them for so long. They probably wouldn't even remember anything about the day this film was shot. Just another random day in their life with no memorable event attached to it. I wonder what will be the last piece of media with my likeness to be seen by someone and how long after my death it will be watched for the last time. Does it already exist? If not, when will it be shot? So many impossible questions.
