This is a complete overhaul of a 1942 Atmos II clock. The clock was purchased in very poor condition. It took a lot of work to get it to look like its current condition.
The bellow did not have any ethyl chloride in it. A working bellow from 1947 was installed. These bellows cannot be refilled or serviced. This makes a working Atmos II a very rare clock.

MW, outstanding video and explanation of one gorgeous time piece. I'm green with envy!. For those watching, this man is an artist in his craft. I just received my 1980's 528 back from him after his cleaning/refurbishing/tuning/beautification efforts. Absolutely stunning job. His attention to detail is second to none. If you require service, or are looking for a quality timepiece, you could make no better choice than contacting him.

Hello Watch Guy; Michael here from Melbourne, Australia. I have a basic Atmos clock (no complications) and I suspect it has a flat bellows. It is in excellent condition otherwise; I bought it from Capetown Diamond about 10 years ago. It ran for about 18 months and stopped. The bellows chain is up around 12 o’clock on the pulley and the clock only runs for about 45 mins. I am most impressed by your thoroughness and care for each clock you work on. Are you able to repair this clock for me if I send it to you, please? Thank you, in anticipation. Michael

I am very curious how you saved or reworked the fork. I would have loved to see the video on that alignment. Did you have a guide or shape that you reworked the fork to conform? I am sure it took a significant time. Great information. Again, thanks for the insight. I have heard in previous videos that no lubrication is used on Atmos jewels, is that correct? even very light synthetic lubrication that watches use?

The specifications for the fork can be found in my videos and also the field repair notes. Lubricate according to the field repair notes. If you want to lubricate the clock with watch oil, you will make a beautiful brick.

I own a clock from the early 50s that runs pretty well (1 minute fast per week). The amplitude is right at 360 degrees. At what point might it need an overhaul?

360° amplitude is the minimum. If it was my clock, I’d go ahead and send it in for service. Drop me an email I don’t charge very much money to overhaul clocks.

thanks so much for taking your time to document this for us. I recently got my aunt's atmos she got as a retirement clock from Formica. around 1976. I made sure I got it, because all this time, I was the only one that'd ask how it worked, No one knew. When the internet came around, I was able to look it up. I told everyone and no one remembered buy me how it worked. It ran and kept good time up until this year. Slow, then fast then slow... I called around about getting it serviced and it was either really expensive or a long wait time. I'm on a wait, but after watching several videos, I might try cleaning it myself. thanks, again.
