Hello all! In this video we dive into the dirty old crankcase on the MM ZTU. After a thorough cleaning and some good fresh oil, we seem to have really nice oil pressure hovering between 35-40 PSI. It still seems I am having an idle issue with the carburetor, but the air cleaner did come clean (it was plugged SOLID). Stay tuned for the next video, and thanks for watching and wrenching with me!

I really liked this tractor - never got to play with it much. Had to sell it and a few others last year for family reasons. The Super C is a handy little tractor as well!

Karin Adler Thanks for tuning in, Mike! You might have to find one of your own someday! I am having fun learning about this old girl, that's for sure!!! Let's see if I can't drag home some more iron sometime soon... :-D

It sounds really strong. It is amazing how the crankcase is so clean. A lot to be said for using good oil.

Wasn't too terrible. I figured while I was in there I might as well do a good thorough cleaning.

Ken I did the same this afternoon on my 37 ZTU. At the end of show season last year I was down to 10 psi oil pressure. Took the side cover off and cleaned out the sludge. Installed the filter adapter, painted the wix filter prairie gold, permatexed a gasket and put in 7 qts of Fleet Farm 30w non detergent. Running 40 psi now.

That is what I am running sir... I am at about 45 PSI now after a good run in. I will have it at Nowthen next week - it is MM year!

Enjoying your videos Ken. I am trying to line up my 37 ZTU and 64 G706 for the MM feature at your local show. I show them at the Lesueur show because it is a few miles from home. Keep up the good work.

Hey kenny, got a question for you. I am interested in a farmall b but its crank start. I was wondering if you could some time when you start your f20 maybe show whatever you are doing, especially on the mag side in the starting process. And the one lever. I realize they are all probably different. Never done it. Thanks

Farmall B should be no issue to crank start. I will tell you what - I will do a crank start video of my Farmall H. That would/should be a very similar procedure to a Farmall B. Each tractor has its' own quirks, but they should be fairly similar in how they operate. With the F20 - it has a manual spark advance, so that is what I am doing on the mag side of the engine. I'll do a video, maybe tomorrow morning of it!

The main reason for this time is to WRENCH! :-D

that small cover is actually where a hydraulic unit would go that used the engine oil to raise and lower culitvators. I'm not sure that it was na option on the ZTU, but it definitely was used on the RTU's. It could be that you have an RTU plate on your ZTU, or even an RTU engine. What is the model and serial number of the engine

the middle gear is actually the gov. drive gear

Joe Leising good to know. I will have to double check the engine number to be sure. These MMs are a whole new learning curve for me!

It's the right engine. I could tell later in the video when I could see the center oil ring. It's not technically a main bearing in the middle of the crank. The oil pump is on the bottom right in front of the oil filter. It is driven by the same shaft that turns the mag

Gotchya. Well, that spring behind the crankcase cover has to be some type of pressure relief spring for the oil system I would imagine?

That is knida a new one on me. I'm going to have to dig through my books and see if i have anything on that. I think on the right side looking from the drivers seat on the oil pump housing you will see an adjustment screw with a jamb nut. That is where the main engine oild pressure is adjusted

Kenny, you need to get rid of your cheesy Home Depot mail box and get a king size rural mail box made from real metal. That way you can be sure all the parts you order online will fit in the mail box LOL! A lot of ancient rigs like the Minnie Mo have lead sludge in the bottom of the pan from decades of leaded gas. You can tell by the light gray color. It was great for plugging oil intake screens.

The mailbox was there and I did have to install a new post. I did ask the wife if I could install a large steel mailbox - I was out voted. Minnie Mo is clean now... Just got to figure out the idle circuit in the carburetor on it. Marvel Schebler's are simple carbs, yet I seem to be having a lot of trouble with it. Same goes for the rich problem I am having with the F20.

Well, happy wife, happy life. I battled a Marvel Schebler on my old Ford 8N. It took forever to smooth it out. I had to replace the brass bushings on the shafts to fix the air leaks.

I've already done the brass bushings on the throttle shaft. I'm thinking it is the idle circuit/idle mixture screw that I am fighting.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x3QsQc-ncyc.html Hey there! I saw this video about changing a 5" stroke to 6". I don't know if it would work on the Z but if you ever had to rebuild the engine it would be a cool project! I bet your hp would shot up! Longer rods and different heads might get pricey though. Maybe keep it in mind, you never know.

That would be really cool! I know that MM's make real good pullers. Friend of mine is building a ZA stroker. That thing is going to be gnarly! I don't think he would ever let me do video on it though. He likes to protect his secrets!
