I had to move the ‘46 Ford rat rod from one building to another so I thought we might as well just do a quick walk around. Check it out and thanks for watching 👍🏼
That is for sure my friend and we are very wealthy in that respect. Mrs Failure and I talk about how fortunate we are primarily because of the dear friends we have had for most of our lives and the new ones we are still making. My own parents told me in high school that I would never amount to anything. Truth is, my life has been far richer than there’s ever was. That’s a story for another day. I appreciate your thoughtful comment. Thanks for watching and have a blessed holiday season.
I had a 45 ton and a half Ford. It sat in a field for years. I stopped one day and talked to the old gentleman that had it. I asked him if he would sell it. He said yes he would sell it but had to have something for it. At that point i figured i was out of the game. He said he bought it and him and his wife went on their honeymoon in it. He had the original owners manual and title. I was prepared to make my exit and he said ill take a hundred dollars. I fished that out of my billfold quickly. The tow truck cost me more. It had the old flathead in it. My father in law had a garage and i helped him out after getting out of the Army. I worked on the old truck as i could. In 1993 the Mississippi left its banks and went over top of the truck. I had insurance on the thing and it paid off. I came out ahead but lost the project.
It’s done. I built it like this in 2007 and really don’t plan on changing it. If it ever needs an engine there’s a chance I might modernize a little but would probably stick with the patina. I really enjoy not having to worry about it. Thanks for watching.
It actually had a Y block when I got it. During the overhaul I figured out that someone had junked a 57 F100 and used the motor, three speed transmission, and dash knobs on this truck. It’s actually a pretty easy swap since it’s basically the same transmission that they used on flatheads. I completely replaced the suspension, brake lines, and master cylinder. It has four wheel disc brakes now. I’m glad you like it. Thanks!
@@westsidesjvalley thank you. I don’t seem to find much time to drive it anymore but I used to drive it a lot, just like this, about 10-15 years ago. It’s not fast or fancy but I’ve always liked how it turned out. The 2015 F250 has been my daily since new and will become my tow rig if my Maverick ever gets here.
I think so but states are different so I’m not sure. Maybe check with a local hot rod shop. I think I was at the third DMV before I found someone that was willing to help.
