Video was good, helpful on my 66 when I installed my rear window, took me a while to figure out how to use the tool for the bead. Kept rewinding until I figured it to change the size of tool .

Wahooo We want to say, Thank you for all of the help. It worked. It took us about an hour but we were taking it slow and double checking we did things right before completing the whole project. Now it is done. Next, the front windshields.

Just installed my rear window in my '55 3100 by myself with no suction holders. Not too bad, but I have great hands and a lot of common sense ;~). FIVE STARS to this video! It went just as planned using precision's locking strip insertion tool. I did only a couple of things differently. I put tape around the window opening, close to where the gasket would go. This helped to protect the paint in the early going, but got pretty well wetted down and fell off toward the end. I soaped the gasket down but forgot to tape the corners. No big deal, I thought, but sure enough, one of the corners slipped to the inside while I was installing the glass. I was able to get it back in place, but considered myself lucky. For spray soap I used an upholstery soap, or "saddle soap" as we used to call it. Worked great. I highly recommend a foaming soap. Apply the sealers out of the caulk tubes onto clean, dry areas, but to help with cleanup, try to have spray soap on your painted surfaces before you squeeze any black schmutz away from the gasket.

Always good to hear from people tackling these installs themselves. Well done!

Just a clarification,... when you point out the grooves of the rubber you say that the short side is for the window but when you install on the vehicle you say the smaller groove is for the pinchweld. Which is right

I would like, if there were links to the tools and adhesives used. While i dont dislike it, as i learned stuff, there were 2 hand tools, 2 adhesives, and one spray used and no reference as to the product making the video incomplete.

should I paint my cab before doing any of this or would it be fine to just put the strip over primer?

It will look cleaner to paint first, but either way the gasket will work the same before or after.

I wish the clean up was that easy. Me thinks there’s some Hollywood magic there. It’s a messy job.

Don’t get the chrome locking strip. There is not a single way to do this without scratching it up.
