This is a 1947 V-tail Bonanza. Mark goes over the primary features of a plane that was ahead of its time. To see Mark and Juan flying the aircraft, go to the links below:
• 1947 Beechcraft Bonanz... Mark and Juan of Blancolirio fly to Grass Valley.
• 1947 Beechcraft Bonanz... Juan flies from Phoenix to Placerville.

Nice intro to old bonanzas. I have a 1947 35 vtail. It was the 819th bonanza ever built! It flies very nicely, is fast and burns 12 gallons per hour. Plus, it’s sexy😊 looking. Mooneys are nice also.

The AD Reinforcement on Ruddervator was required only after MY 1951 C35, because of the wider cord. In this 47 MY the Spar is closer to the leading edge making it more sturdy and did not fail in flight.

Minor detail--production models never had fabric covered ruddervators; have always had magnesium alloy skins. The fabric covered ailerons and flaps (aluminum framework/structure) were only on the first 40 Bonanzas. Good overview of this highly modified '47...

I love the old school intro to your videos.. and the very informative walk arounds that you give, are great for pre purchase considerations.

We were told that it was not very good for youtube attention spans to have that intro and took it off. 'Straight into the action" we were told. Keep them watching etc etc. But a lot of people have said that they liked the intro so we may put it back on the ones that do not have it.

My Dad flew a 47 Bonanza in charter work in Montana in the early fifties. Thank you for this reminder.

As the proud owner of a 47 V tail, serial number D240, I am still amazed at the build quality and longevity. I don't think you can find a better value in a 4 place.

It was amazing to fly that plane knowing that it was built just after WWII ended.

The direct competitor for the early Bonanza wasn't the Cessna 195, which was a superior, radial engine high-wing but an oil guzzler and too expensive to compete with Bonanza. The direct competitor for Bonanza was the Navion, which was close in weight, had the same engine, and similar bungee cord linkage between rudder and ailerons. Navion eventually lost the competition with Bonanza because its design sacrificed about 20 mph airspeed in order to gain superior flight stability. Americans wanted to fly fast! My private plane is a 1948 Navion A and I think it has the best flight characteristics of any GA airframe ever. I wish Navion would go back into production.

I saw this in another you tube fliers channel during his search for his first owned airplane..he didnt buy it obviously (he was looking for something later in age) but I had wondered if Juan still had it Low time and with the fact Juan vetted it.. the mods you mentioned..new panel.. late model windshield..tip tank etc and priced at 52k?.. this won't last long.. if I was in the market for a four place retract on a budget I'd be on the phone with you in a heartbeat ...very nicely done

The first Bo I flew was a ‘47. It was 21 years old at the time. I wasn’t much older. Nice airplane, as I recall. That one is really nice, but it needs another G5.

Mark - I love this vlog but if I may... That microphone is totally acceptable if you're a pilot but in the world of RU-vid, it comes in dead last. Please upgrade because we are all here to listen to you. 👍

I have a 1947 35. What make and model autopilot does this have? Mine has a very old Brittain B4 autopilot, with altitude hold. It still works well, but I’d like a newer autopilot.

Getting the ruddervators replaced on all V-Tail bonanza is a huge problem.
@skywagonuniversity5023
@skywagonuniversity5023 3 года назад
It is hard to replace them but they are 75 years old on this plane and still very good, so once every 100 years can't be that bad.
