Thank you Mr. craigmca for sharing these touring videos with us. I was curious about what rear axle ratio your Ford has? My "48 has 4:11 gears, and it does not like highway speeds. I have a set of 3:78's that been in the garage for about 20 years, and was wondering if they would be better for the highway.Thanks again, George.
My differential is stock 3:78 and cruises from 60-70 mph very comfortably. Can cruise up to 80 mph but uses a lot more gas and oil above 65 mph. I definitely recommend the stock 3:78 unless you're doing a lot of steep mountain climbing or street drag racing. I've climbed to the top of Pike's Peak twice and Mt. Evans once just fine. Had to drop into 1st when the grade reached 10% but kept on going.
