Excellent Job! My 1948 Ferguson TE20 tractor project will not look that pretty. I'm trying to keep it in the working clothes appearance with the minor dents and wounds of typical farm life. The front and rear tires are Sampson brand that will be installed at the local tire shop because at 73 I'm too old to fight with them. Still waiting for some brake parts to arrive from the USA & Ireland. With luck the tractor will in the Canada Day parade next year. TTFN/CDC
Please keep us posted on what you do about remaking the mufflers. I’m also curious about what’s going on in the factory ford mufflers. Your tractor is really awesome! Thanks for sharing your project. Subscribed 👍
Did you use a torque multiplier on the axle nut? Wondering what kind to use or how to do that part when I get there. My dad replaced the seals at one point and I am sure he did not get to the 450ft lbs. Probably why they are leaking again. I just hope it didn't damage the axle as it was not used too much after that time. Beautiful tractor BTW!
Hey Kevin Really enjoyed the rebuild vids . I also have a 1948 8n located in Minden Ontario. The front tires are toasted and I'm looking around for reasonably priced replacements. Any suggestions ? thanks
Yes it has a sway kit. The bars and the stay bars for the hitch are in the rack on the fender. I think I showed it one of the previous videos in this series.
thanks for your videos. I got my 52 8n lift cover back on and nothing😆. then i took the cover back off and one of the valves feet at the bottom was missing so i ordered a new set from ebay. that would cause it right? btw, thanks for showing us brushing the grease on the gasket. it looks like it will go right back on no problem as it stuck to the top
Nice job. One question...the pto cover, was that homemade, or was it part of the swinging drawbar assembly? I don't see that cover or guard in the parts catalog...there is just the screw on type that won't work if you have an over riding pto clutch on.
Its off a newer Ford tractor, like a 2000. It used to come in a kit.very minor mods required to put it on an N. I'd get them right from the New Holland dealer. I think the current NH part number is 83927054 for the kit.
I paint the red parts with hardware store rust paint with a 1-1/2" sash brush. On this 8N the gray paint is the 39-64 Ford Gray sold at any New Holland dealer. I usually brush it on. This time I sprayed it. The next tractor, we're going to brush it.
