I take the 1949 Chevy 3100 truck out on it's 1st cruise 0f 2024. I talk about several related topics and let the modified 54 235 engine breath on some highways and back roads. email: volfandt1@yahoo.com
Beautiful scenery, thanks for taking us along, it’s tough figuring out the best use of the “lunch money “ I think you’re on the right track, you just want value and the best enjoyment out of it,
Dave, i enjoyed the ride along, even though you wouldn't let me drive, i was going to run us up to the pilot truck stop and get a large cup of fresh hot "Geterdone" but, maybe next time. Happy New Year to you and yours
Thanks for inviting us along for the first cruise of the new year. I'm glad to see that you don't put the truck in hibernation for the winter like some others do. I think that with using a little discretion you can get the truck out for some exercise now & then -- free range truck. Regarding your dilemma, I want to say put the money on the truck but I'm thinking you might have more good times putting it in the vette. I'm not too keen on LS swaps; lean more towards small block Chevy but it's your personal preference that matters. Take care; keep the dirty side down & the shiny side up.
Hey Randall, Free range truck, I like that, LOL.... The truck is gonna get it's attention soon, got some new parts collecting dust on the back shelf. And the Vette, well, it needs to act more like a Vette but man oh man are they proud of Go fast parts... Have a good 'un...
I'll have to check yours out. Thanks for the input. I currently still use MS Moviemaker and I'm still surprised it works on my WINXP upgraded to WIN10 machine. I expect it to crash anytime now and in that case I'll be lost, LOL... Thanks for watching
Thanks for the enjoyable ride along! Always fun to be sitting beside you in the old 49! I could be a bit bias but if I get a vote on where to see improvements made LOL.. definitely the 49! Maybe upgrade the diff gears to 3:55 and do a video so I can do mine! 😂 Whatever you decide, I'll be here watching and learning! Thank you Dave and God bless!
@@Volfandt 95 Riviera left with a new water pump and coolant pipes(broken plastic pipes). The Miata left with new power windows, The Tundra left with a new rebuilt rear axle. My truck, Ralph (81 c10) is being tuned for being left outside and a daily driver for winter here in Colorado. 2WD and Yokohama tires😀
Thats surprising as I'd think y'all would be colder. These 49's were great engr'ed trucks for their time as evidenced that they're standing the test of time. Have a good 'un Ronald and thanks for watching.
Great ride Dave, the old Chevy is sounding really great!! You make that drive look so effortless my 55 ford drives like a morning at the gym, ha ha I did try that corn head grease in the steering gear box that you used but it’s still really stiff we’ll keep your fingers crossed that you can keep buying gasoline. Thanks again for the great videos
Hey Judd, the Ole Chevy can give me a workout if I try to turn without moving, LOL... I've noticed recently that the cornhead grease is seeping out the steering gear box. Guess I'll have to consider rebushing it one of these days, hopefully gas will still be available, LOL. Have a good 'un.
Hey Dave, what's up ? Hey I enjoyed the road trip thru the country.. What kind of mileage does your truck get? Love those honey buns.. lol...makes me hungry just thinking about it.. Dave you have a blessed new year and take care my friend...
Do you live in Tennessee if so what part i live in Johnson City been following your video's need some parts i have a 55 1st series and a 49 work in progress
It's always shifted smoothly. The key is to make sure the 1st/reverse & 2nd/3rd linkage levers at the shift box on the steering column are lined up with each other as near as perfect as possible when in neutral. It makes a world of difference.
