With the deck framing largely rebuilt and a strongback installed, our 1950 18’ Chris-Craft Riviera has been flipped in preparation for repairing and rebuilding her keel as well as her chine, transom and bottom framing.
Rick spent yesterday and is spending a good part of today “toothpicking” every fastener hole with ash toothpicks and waterproof Gorilla Glue. Once they are shaved and the frame surfaces are faired, we will seal all frame members with four coats of Smith’s Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer and then begin fabricating her True 5200 bottom.
A roster of the materials and their sources we are using here and elsewhere in her preservation are available at: snakemountainb....
Fitting, sealing and installing her 7/16” Meranti plywood sheathing is next … Stay tuned.
