My mother had a voice-activated remote control in the '50s...it was like, "Bobby, get up and turn the TV to Channel 3, and turn up the volume"

The term “Golden Age of Television”, as generally applied to the 1950’s, implies that, entertainment-wise, we’re living in a somewhat lesser time, which I’m inclined to agree with; back then, quality exceeded quantity-now, it’s the opposite.

And there was the fact that "coast-to-coast" television was finally a reality on September 4, 1951, when coaxial cables linked East and West, and were finally in operation, enabling live broadcasts on both coasts.

No mention of the live television dramas such as studio one and Playhouse 90. Also if you're going to mention the TV networks you must include the Dumont network.

The DuMont network was in operation from 1948 through 1956.

Yes, @ericfeman442, the live television dramas I vividly remember watching are not given a mention! Yes, the Dumont network was entirely skipped over! I don't watch TV at all now in 2024! I listen to several old time radio shows instead! Can't stand the garbage on TV today!

Also Archbishop Fulton Sheen. He won an Emmy and beat out Milton Berle. He had better writers such as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. 😂

i had the pleasure of knowing a 1950's Television Personality. His name was Wiiliam Sears. I grew up in the Baha'i Faith and he was "Harry Potter famous" best way to describe. His funeral had thousands of people. i didnt understand the scope of this mans life. i was 7. he was the closest thing i had to a grandpa. My Parents were very close and helped edit a lot of his writings. God Loves Laughter is a book about early television. if youre interested en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Sears_(Bah%C3%A1%CA%BC%C3%AD)
