Like you, I'm using parts from 3 different trucks to piece mine together lol I broke down and ordered a completely new Mar-K bed for mine. The original would of required to many hours of work to make it worth my time or money. Your quite a ways ahead of me build wise which is great for me. Keep on truckin brother!
Yes...in fact, I had always put my filler on bare metal until just 2-3 years ago. The "experts", whoever they are, recomend the epoxy to seal the metal before filler for a longer lasting paint job.
