Yep , truckbob group 22 bat fits, and of all my few vehicles, it seems to out last them all, I do have a hidden kill switch, (I live in the city, and old vehicles can be fired up with one wire), my 50 looks exactly like this condition, I’ve been driving all over central Texas for over 10 years!! If I attempted a frame off , I’d never finish it, drive it & have fun, great family heirloom, congrats.
Hey there ! Great Truck, great Story ! got the same one and same year as well. Out of all i find the 52 Chevy the coolest. Have fun with your family truck! Looking forward to more videos and updates on it.
I'm glad you got your truck back in the family. Where is your Georgian accent? Trucks looks kind of solid and a good truck for restoration. Like the wine bottle idea. I so agree with the 'keep it original' idea. So many trucks of this era that cost like $50,000 to $75,000 have 350 v8's automatic transmissions, weird instrument panels, ac. totally not original. Why have a vintage truck, that is not vintage?
@kfl611 I just want to keep this one simple. I have 4 other builds in progress and know how fast you can go down the rabbit hole with time and money. The 6cyl runs great, no reason to change it. I want it like I remember as a kid, just a Sunday afternoon truck with the family. As for the accent? 24 years in the south and it's never caught on. Lol
Yeah pretty much. This will just be for Sunday cruises around town and staying local.I'm currently looking at a 51 to maybe modify and build for more of a Streetable" fast truck.
I just thought I would tell you that a group 22 battery should fit in the floor mount it is smaller than the standard group 24 GM battery .I put one in my 51 GMC pickup.
Thank God someone hasn't gone the inbred route and took old 6 out ... and LS bullshit in its place Keep the 6 if its tired use a 57 GMC 292 6 reliable longevity and save original engine just upgrade brakes enjoy 👍
The motor isn't original,I know this because of my grandfather. It actually has a 56 block in it .Motor runs great and when it's time,I'll just do a reman long block,Yes keeping it a straight 6.Brakes are decent right now with a new booster, drums and shoes adjusted properly.Of course it's not today's brakes,But they really aren't horrible with the front drums.
It happens.I do frame off builds and a bunch of rust repair for a handful of guy's.I see a lot of "repairs" that were done over the years and end up cutting out and doing it correctly.Funny what some people call quality work.
