1953 Essex Floods - Remembered in Tendring
"You could see where people had banged holes in the rooftops to get out."
Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Essex Floods, 307 people in England sadly died as a result of tidal flooding on 31 January 1953 which included over 40 people across Tendring in Jaywick Sands and Harwich.
Residents who remember that night share their stories and recall the community sprit that helped pull everyone through.
Tendring remembers those who were lost and the rescuers who braved harsh conditions to rescue many more.
