Very nice, good little project. I had mine running for the first time after restoration today, much improved.

@enpeemac Many Thanks for your assistance in this matter! I have a 1922 Atco standard which has a Villiers engine very similar to the midget, I run this engine at 16:1. Purely for the fact that I have some 16:1 already mixed I may try that. At the end of the day to much oil is better than not enough! Thanks once again, I will keep you posted with my progress.

Timing tips from your other video were most useful.. Mine is a couple of degree's out & bucks like a mule. Think I have clutch problems to (it's still on the mower..) as it drops rev's & stalls when the clutch is engaged.

@timmymojito Thanks, and yes, the clutches on the ATCOs can be rather fierce - either in or out, there's no in between slipping point! Best to keep the revs up a little when you engage and make sure the blades etc run free and aren't partially seized. Might also be worth tinkering with the carb mixture. Make a note of the position of the adjusting screw on the needle and try a 1/2 turn both in & out & see if you get any improvement ;-)

@orangebikes224gbr Thanks, great to get some positive feedback and know I may have helped someone. Regarding fuel mix, ask 10 people and get 10 different answers! I've read ratios raging from 10:1 through to 30:1 recommended in these engines. A lot of folk suggest 16:1 which I've used but tend to find still too oily and viscous. This unit was also employed as a small outboard, the 'ATCO Boatimpeller', for which the handbook suggests a fuel mix of 20:1 which I think I'll use from now on.

Great selection of Video's, they have helped me restore my engine! What is the two stroke mix for these engines? Many thanks for your help.

All I can say is no way would I be holding that spark plug & turning it over to demonstrate the spark - don't care what the theory says about no getting shocked, because its earthed, I've been had too many times now in the past, hate electric shocks - scares me just watching you do it..!! LOL Its always interesting seeing date stamps, makes you think who and what may have tinkered with your engine long before you did. Enjoyed that thanks. PS I need 2 kickstart ret'n springs if u should find any
