1954 Farmall Super C on M&W dyno

Mr. Bill putting his 1954 Farmall Super C on a M&W Dyno at Aycock Tractor Company in Goldsboro N.C . This Tractor has a C-135 engine and gives this normally 23hp tractor a whopping 42 hp at the PTO. After setting the distributor everything cleared up and Now !!!! this tractor could pull 3 14" bottoms with Ease......

Fine little tractor in its day. Dad really got a lot of work done with it even though he had a super m. The point 2 point hitch and wide front was so handy.

Gorgeous tractor. I was thinking of putting the C135 in my 1966 140. Might do it now that I see what kind of results I can get.

Bill has a very nice looking little power house there. Can't wait to see vids of it in the field after all the work he has done to it.

At about 2:42 it was running 750 rpm on the power shaft. When it was stock it would have never turned over 600. What ever they did to get that much horsepower was Great. High compression pistons and LOTS of RPM's. A stock Super C would only pull a 4 row corn planter in 2nd gear. No doubt this little girl would scout along in 3rd.

i wonder what my cub would dyno at, lol probably about 10 hp at the PTO. i know kinda weak but she's still a great little tractor

@roblok23 They are a all around great tractor for any size farm . Very useful for cultivating plowing and chore work . Its one of my favorites ..

@roblok23 I sometime wonder why IH never upped the hp just a little on these tractors . I would think atleast 30 to 35 hp would have been a nice improvement on these tractors . they basically kept the same engine on through the 240 with only a few upgrades on the C-123 engines to about 27hp .

Super C is a modern tractor. in fact the new technology used in tractors today is no better than 1954 technology see how many new ones are still plowing in 60 years.

These IH tractors are better than what they have now by far. I have a 1944 W-4 that has been in the family for 66 years. This tractor farmed a half section by itself for 11 years. Grandpa used to pull a 3 bottom plow, packer wheels and a drill behind. In the fall, it powered a 28x46 threshing machine. Now, how many 25 hp tractors today can farm 300 acres by itself, be constantly overloaded for years and still run strong 73 years later?

I wonder why International Harvester didn’t put in the C135 engine to start with. According to the Nebraska Tractor Test the C123 had 21 horsepower, yours is putting 42 horsepower. That is a big difference out there in the field. Undoubtedly, there wouldn't be that much difference in the fuel consumption between the two engines.

Yeah by the time the 200 come along they should have used the C-135.

The first tractor to use the C-135 was the 330 utility. The 340's that came afterward also used it. IH made many different engines with the same block. We put a D-282 in a 606 with a blown engine, but the cooling system on the 606 was inadequate for it. This Super C is running too fast, the PTO shouldn't be running 700. It's true they run faster than 540 under no load but not that much more. That's how he's getting 42 Hp. The 135 put out 32 in the Nebraska tractor test in the 340.

i think thats an option wen people bought the tractor origanally u could have a 123 or 135 ive got 2 1 has always ran and the other my grandpa bought siezed up 10 years ago and it came unseized over the summer last year now its awaiting a ring job since it smoked so badly from not honing out da cylinders

@TDubya5 No a H motor will not fit but all the super C's came with a C-123 ONLY!!. So did the 200's and 230's and the 240's . You can put a engine out of a 404 or 424 will work they used the same block . but haha yeah this Super C is SUper Duper

wow 42 horse in a super C mercy bill needs to get a three bottom for that thing wow will a c-135 fit in a 140 im getting some ideas here haha by the way any info on the 140 back there in the tractor line looks good

With that much power in that little thing, if you went to pull a larger plow etc, I wonder what the "fuse" would be? There's always going to be a weakest link. Good job, though!

Realgrower dialing in the distributor and carb . Also the voltage regulator if right makes a difference too

Is the c135 a "direct" bolt in requiring no modifications?

Der Dampfhammer, the block is externally the same between the C113, C123 and C135. The C113 is 3X4, C123 is 3.125 x4 and the C135 is 3.25x4.0625. Unless you look at number on the block, you cannot tell the difference.
