I owned both an MG TD and A TF 1500 and loved them both, Drove the TF 1500 from San Diego CA to Portage, Wisconsin towing a you haul trailer as my wife was pregnant and I was being transferred to submarine school in CT. Car made the trip with zero problems and got fantastic mileage which was needed for a serviceman's salary. Sort of wish I still had it! But at 85 I am not sure I could still get in and out of it today.

I had a TC years ago and I still miss the little darling. I always wanted a TF but unfortunately never got there. These little gems are what real motoring is all about.

Excellent. I have loved the MGTF for many years acquiring my first TF in 1973. I had a TD before that car from the time I was 15 years old in 1969. Marvelous cars these old MGs!!

Excellent presentation. I am expert in the MGTD and TF cars having owned several over the years. I also owned MGA and several MGB and smaller Midgets. The MGTF is by far my favorite, especially with wire wheels. We are indeed fortunate that the TF was produced. Thanks for a well researched and properly presented story of these great little MGs!! They are getting quite expensive these days, far outpacing inflation. The original price was around $2,400 with wire wheels, a lot of money in 1954. That is the year I was born and I only cost about $60.00 lol. Seriously, $2,400 was more than a new Ford of that year. Today expect to pay 10 to 15 times that amount or more for a fresh, fully restored MGTF! They are worth every penny however!

British Motor Corporation not British Leyland was the parent company at the time of the TFs release. Nice video!

i just bought a nice TD but i'm willing to concede that the TF is more attractive. no question. there was a time in my life when wire wheels were, aesthetically speaking, absolutely necessary, but not anymore. i like the steelies.

A really, really good video. A great many years ago I had an MGA and a Bugeye Sprite. From that experience I learned: No More British Cars! Fun to drive, but driveable only if you were wealthy enough to have your own riding mechanic along with you. Even then, best to have your AAA membership up to date and your cellphone with you.

Or you have a basic working knowledge of the cars you drive. In a British car it isn't particularly difficult, the owner's manuals are designed with that in mind. I've been restoring and building British Cars for over 15 years, started with American muscle before that. One is no more challenging than the other. Old is old and they all have their quirks. If you aren't mechanically minded and somewhat capable ALL old cars aren't for you. You like the idea of owning a classic vehicle more than the reality. In that case, just borrow from a good friend or better still just rent one.

Very nice! I know a woman who lives near me and is the original owner of her TF1500. Repainted once with all else being in well maintained shape. Beautiful car.
