About 50 or so years ago I started to take a course on auto upholstery. Got like one or two lessons and hog ring pliers, scissors and awl. Then life threw me a curve and I never got back to it. Still have the tools and a rusty pack of the hog rings LOL.

Hey Mike, you should use this red vinyl on your B pillar and under the rear quarter window to be correct. I've noticed you used the headliner material in these areas. Depends if you want 100% correct interior, if not looks good as is.

Yea your right. My headliner kit that I got with the car was what I put in there.. I dont even know if it is near correct color either.

Hey Mike…really enjoying this series. In your experience, would it be easier to take apart the upholstery from an existing car and reverse engineer it? Maybe even make a pattern from the pieces. Just a thought. Keep up the awesome work! You’re a major asset to the VW community.

I had the same thought as I have a set of old 1962 seat covers, but around the 40 min mark he said something that if he used a template it would not have come out as good as his "freehand" work here. TBH, I think he is teaching us one of many ways that would work. I have not sewn anything in decades - since High school but I have a old German sewing machine, time to learn whcih is why we are all here.
