The reason for the hat on the rear window deck is Chrysler President KT Keller stated on car headroom: "A car shouldn't knock a man's eyes out or his hat off." So thru the 1955-56 model year Chrysler made stodgy cars...but in '55 came the "Forward Look."

I owned one of these when I was in High School it was really tricked out, leather seats power windows & factory A/C - the biggest problem was the 6 volt electrical system.

@@Mikesclassicautoworld It was a wonderful car the A/C actually worked really well , the lever on the dash was way ahead of its time and thank God it had electric wipers !!!
