My uncle started out as a truck mechanic for Cummins Internation out of Joplin, MO, and retired the only person to have ever sat on the board of directors with no college degree. 40+years of wrenching, designing and building products for Cummins, and they rewarded him by promoting him all the way to the top.

What an awesome old truck. Never heard of Hayes in the US. The old Cummins seems pretty decent. Were those Mack rear ends or another brand? Asking your wife and getting your sons input was priceless. Hopefully the little guy follows in your footsteps, need more people not afraid to work with there hands for a living. Thanks for the videos. Always a treat.

My dad drove logging trucks for my grandpa (who loved two things - ol' Ferd diesels and Stihl chainsaws) and he utilized the finest wing nut cruise control hardware money could buy. He also used three logbooks - one for himself, one for the office bookkeeper, and one for the lawman. I'd go with him as a kid on trips all the time. Those were the good ol' days when we knew what bathrooms to use.

bout 15 yrs ago i was blessed with the chance to drive a n old dump truck 1985 k wappa 250 cummins EF 10 it was a fine machine gears floated perfectly all it needed was a double clutch when going to the high side super fun and great memory!!

I drive a 1988 f250 I made into a single cab short bed truck with a Isuzu 4bd1t 5 speed manual lifted 2 inches coil spring solid axle up front leafs in the back running stock steel rims with bias ply tires and the truck is military green gets 35mpg going 55mph towing 5000 pounds gets me 19mpg at 55mph I built this truck myself for $2000 im 22

Idle must be adjusted at governor. There is a spinning flywheel countering your gas pedal being pushed in slightly. Two springs are countering each other

The sound of a Cummins NH.. Music👌 The bloke who fitted the high idle needs a lesson on PT fuel pumps, The pump on that is automotive type and with a part throttle will race away. It needs a bimber valve type pump or a speed governor to be able to do that. Happy days though, cool old truck.
