My father has a friend who restores Vespas and Lambrettas from the early 50s. Such a beautiful machines. They certenly have soul.

I've had a Lambretta, Vespa, Piaggio even an Innocenti automobile but never did it go 225 miles without breaking down. I may not have been able to take it on road trips but it was fun when it did run smoothly. And I may not have had a beautiful Italian model on the back riding with me but I can say it was definitely a chick magnet. Great job again petrolicious! Way to mix it up!

a lovely story. i had one of these when i was a schoolboy. i bought it for £3 from another boy in an older year at school. it had no side panels and was used to ride around the fields of a friends dads small farm. in those days these old scooters and motorbikes were easy and cheap to obtain. i am talking early 1960s. i am now 73 and still enjoy anything with 2 wheels . i am in the u k . another memory is of a friend who had a new Lambretta in 1962 an L I 125 brand new.he let me have a short ride on it up the lane and really smooth to ride.

My grandfather bought a 50cc yamaha in 1983 it is still in the family I have been riding it since I was 6 years old and am now 29 it has been driven at least 1000 miles a year since purchase

Guy locally bought one in 1962 he was a newspaper delivery man who through that scooter was able to earn a living for his family and helped his 6 children graduate university. He's now in his 70's and the scooter still functions but looks beat up as hell and uses it to this very day.

I'm torn between the beauty of your scooter and your partner... your scooter would come a close second. :) I owned a '58 NSU Prima, which was very similar to the Lambretta.

Talking about heritage and history within a culture and a family.......

Probably the best of the Lambrettas. The LD even the 150cc form was not overpowered for the basic design limitation - uneven weight distribution - very front tight = poor handling, wide footboards = poor cornering. 50MPH flat out was plenty. Best features were bullet proof engine not as prone to overheating as later models that suffered scored barrels. 3 gears and excellent shaft drive meant that these machines were over engineered . No bad thing.

Lovely bike, lovely girlfriend, lovely region, lovely family. All lovely. But one thing even more important: Could someone identify the camera? Looked like a rangefinder, probably with a Leica M mount, but it almost certainly was not a Leica.

Oh my god.

I never knew the love a man can feel for his ride until I got my first car. Truth being told: the thing was terrible... Things would break almost every month. I couldn't really afford to repair it, so I got a big ass repair manual and a decent set of tools and decided to do this sh*t myself to keep the thing rolling until I could afford something better. After work, when I finally got home around seven, I'd kiss the misses and would go off to the shed. :) She's my wife now, and we're together for 10 years. Now, I managed to buy a reliable car. I can make her happy now when I get home around seven. ;)
