I love seeing a vintage guitar like that getting restored by a team of professionals. Amazing job. Awesome. I see too many videos of amateurs getting old guitars and fixing them up. I just put my hands on my forehead and sigh.

Excellent job sir. Kudos to the refin too. I see the vintage Specials are in the 20K territory now, so definitely worth the investment.

A buddy had a '56 back around when it (and me) were in our twenties. One of the most outstanding guitars in memory. Would love to see some of the restoration work done on this gem.

The finishing was done at Darcy's. The bridge / tailpiece ... was just a matter of adjusting the 2 set screws. The re-fret and compensated nut was done like all of the other detailed videos I've posted. The Thro-back electronics harness that I dropped into place, was the same job ( except easier ) as the Custom Shop 339 video that I posted a while back. I posted this video to let everyone see and hear the finished results. I'll see if I can dig up some " before " photos to give you an idea of what I had to deal with. Cheers, MMcC

That's amazing how well you set up the intonation with that bridge. My guess is the compensated nut helps out a lot, here. BassAss (I believe that''s their name) makes a great compensated bridge for LP Specials. Many folks put their original bridges in their case pockets and install BA's.

.010" - .046" @ A 440. Any variation from this, would alter this level of precision. The sculpted bridges have been around for a long time. But ... in this case ( amazingly ! ) it wasn't needed.

Correction: BadAss bridge.

Beautiful work! I'm sure you are aware, but a word of caution on the neck joint of that guitar. Gibson moved the pickup away from the fretboard end to strengthen the joint in 1960, I believe. The P90's in that guitar sound amazing. -It's just an all around great guitar!

Neck joint and headstock are both good ... the harder older mahogany has stood the test of time ( 67 years ! ) No cracks fractures or repairs. Super versatile guitar.
