Really not correct on your explanation of why the audio offerings in the Radio Shack catalog were mono, not stereo. The main reason is because the stereo LP record wasn't even introduced until that year, with very little availability. There was also no FM stereo until 1962. The manufacturers had yet to catch up to these new developments. The only stereo format available was r-r tape, and that was a very small niche in the world of music software. Take a look at that catalog for 1959, and you'll see big changes, with many more stereo offerings available.
