The 58s were the prettiest cars Cadillac made. They were stately and elegant with just a little flash. I never cared for the 59s. I always thought they were a parody of themselves.
I wasn't a fan of the quad headlights, and, the fins on the 58. I always preferred the '57, but I have to agree that the underlying shape of the 57-58 is one of the most beautiful/graceful body styles Cadillac ever had. The forward slant of the a-pillar, and the rearward slant of the c-pillar really made the coupes look sharp. The convertibles were to die for. Even the interiors of the 57-58 were gorgeous. Beautiful dash, wheel, and, seats. Even the floor speaker was a work of art. They were perfect. 57-58 had clean, elegant lines that expressed status/wealth, and, underlined expense, but with class. The '59, while iconic, is garish, and, screams "new money". The '60 isn't bad. I'd have one over a '59 any day, but a '57 rules the day for me.
Robert Coates I have my parents 58 Cadillac, series 62 sedan that they bought in 1960. I was not yet 2 years old. life long so cal car. has factory a.c. and power windows, wonder bar radio. prestwick gray, silver interior. I drive it around town for all my errands. love it and would never sell it. It's family. It's in good mechanical shape, but does need another paint job, and new upholstery. was repainted in 82. original color of course. glad you like these old cars. I get lots of looks, and people come up to me all the time to ask about the car. fun!
Rust free Colorado car? So they don't salt the roads in Colorado in winter? Unless it's garaged during the winter? And was that oil around the oil pan and around the differential? 🤔
