We didn't know what to expect when we stopped by our local coin shop and purchased this original roll of 1958-D Lincoln Cents. The coins were in a paper roll marked by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and have not been seen or spent since.
This roll cost us $15 but could contain valuable Superb Gems or a few interesting die varieties.
Now that we set your expectations too high know that rolls like this were put away by the thousands by speculators and collectors during the roll craze of the 1950s and early 1960s.
This time capsule of mid 20th century numismatics is sure to spark an interesting conversation. CoinWeek editor Charles Morgan narrates.

I started collecting seriously in 2019. I havent bought a morgan or peace $ since that first year because the prices have gone insane. A coin i could have bought for 40 to 50 then, now goes for 75. This normally doesn't happen so fast. The pandemic helped a ton. But I really think that there will always be ppl interested in history. Coin collecting is the perfect hobby for the historian. Every date is in my mind associated with what was going on in the world then. I have learned so much this way. Example: 1st commemorative coin U.S. ever struck was in 1892 and 1893. Its the Columbian Expo world fair commemorative. This coin sparked my interest in the event and I went and learned about it inside and out. Very interesting. Went on for like 6 months in Chicago. Ppl came from all over the world. They constructed a city just for the event. Plus, go to a big coin show and just look at the amount of money flying around... precious metals help keep it going. Rich ppl will always want to stash 30grand in a quarter size gold piece from ancient Greece or Rome. A coin that could have belonged to Ceasars himself. Or a civil war coin that might have been at Gettysburg. Or shipwreck treasures. Its endless. U should check it out and cure your obliviousness. And yes thats a word, I couldn't spell the word I really wanted... maybe I shoulspend my time learning to spell, but there's too many coins to learn about first!
