1958 ford f100 70's 400ci ford  

Old thread I know, but the 400 and 350M are dry intake manifolds - there are no water passages in the intake. They are torque monsters and can be pretty easy on gas with a well-tuned 2150 Motorcraft 2 bbl and the right gears. Mine is one of the best motors I've ever had!

The first 6.6L (400ci) came out in 1971 with a rating of 260hp/400flbs. The compression was 9.19:1. They all came with 2 barrels. Its basically a Cleveland with a tall deck.

It’s likely the heads do not have harden seats. I think it is still set up for leaded gas. Those heads will fit on the 351c. The Cleveland is a better motor. Low and hi torque. Let me know if you need parts. James

I would run the performer intake. Based on the build. I would not put a holly or Edlebrock over 600cfms. Petronix makes a good point conversion to electronic ignition.

Hi Tatro, this is something I know about. 400 is primarily a torque motor. I run a 351C in my race car. The motors are similar. Bell-housing is lager than a 289, 302, 351w and the cleavland motors. Yours 400 carries a big bock bell housing. My motorcycle is coming along. Thanks for the sprockets chain. James

Someone asked who built Evil Caneviles bikers and or engines well the answer Reimans Harley Davidson in Kewanee Illinois. The owner is of the dealership was Rodger Reiman. Rodger was friends with Evil. Rodger died while racing a motorcycle (BMW) I think.
