Very interesting video. My wife and her parents made almost the same trip (we don’t know the exact route they took) from Calgary to New Westminster in the summer of 1958, at the same time. They were moving to B.C. - she was seven months old. Seeing the state of the roads and transportation infrastructure at that time was enlightening. I’m pretty sure the mountainous route shown after the Radium and Columbia valley clips was the old road between Rossland and Grand Forks, which is very narrow and twisting for much of its length. The lake shown immediately after that is probably Christina Lake, which is near the west end of that mountain road.

From 9.30 to about 12.00 is the Old Cascade Highway, Rossland to Cascade. At 10.30 shows the road below decending into Big Sheep Creek. My mother brought a friend out to our ranch at Big Sheep Creek. The friend asked "which road do we take?" Mom's answer was "every damn one of them!"
