Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week it is time to get busy on the 1959 Buick LeSabre; this is a car I've wanted since I was a kid, and I cannot wait to put it together! This week we're going to try to figure out why the wheelbase is wrong on the car, and why it sits on the bump stops... Weird problems, for sure! Also: More welding on the 1960 Chevy Biscayne / Impala splice, and a new episode of "My Classic Tire"! Thanks everyone who ordered a 1937 Chevy T-shirt; they're printed now and they are on the way! Hope you enjoyed the 8mm clips! I am filming more on the 8mm camera and I'll include the footage as soon as I get it developed... Special thanks to Steve Dean and Niagara Film Labs in Toronto. Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! Scott-You've put a bunch of work into the Biscala to make those doors shut so nicely. I would suggest that you install at least two body mounts from the floor to the frame, reasonably close to the b-pillars, so there is no chance of future flexing downward. Ken from Lititz, Pennsylvania
Having Frankers chase the tire between all the cars is a great way to clear out all the cobwebs while letting her have some fun 😂. I'm totally enjoying watching the progress on the Buick and Biscala projects. Cheers to you, Scott, and all the Agents helping out!
I think that before winter you may want to get an enclosure around the lift that can be heated when you want to use the lift because you know there will be times this winter that you are going to want to use it. If you lived closer and hadn't already rebuilt the 364 for the Buick I would have had a rebuildable 64 Buick Riviera 425 I would have given you to put in it.
Scott, been out of commission for a while, card on monthly contribution expired, so sending this for the Biscala or Buick, whichever is more in need. Cheers to you, Dean and all the Agents. John W.
Whoa! Thanks so much, John... You are very kind to contribute so generously to the old show here... I will keep trying my best to make something we can look forward to... All the very best as always from me and Frankers and the Agents that make it happen!
Scott, I so look forward to Thursdays and Saturdays. I don't work on cars but have learned so much about them watching your shows. Please put this toward the purchase of a new trunk floor for the Biscalla. Cheers!
Whoa! Thanks so much, Kerry... That is so cool of you to contribute so generously to the old show here... I will keep trying my best to make something we can look forward to... All the very best as always from me and Frankers and the Agents!
The lift sure is getting a workout lately. Need a t-shirt with a picture of the Buick on the lift and a caption on the back "Bro, do you even lift?" The Kaiser is looking sharp and the Biscala is coming together nicely with all that welding.
The ghosts from the Willow Springs Fisher Body Plant are watching your progress with great interest and wishing you well with this tedious work. I am, too.
Hunny Bunny on rhythm guitar is a welcome addition. I can see her watching for the chord progressions, and she's keeping up with the boys just fine. Holding up the other end of the torque tube and cleaning parts shaved hours off he Buick job. I think she needs an agent number ... she's more than just a Hunny Bunny, she's a member of the team.
Having a lift is a game changer. The Impala splice and the Buick are both going way faster now that you aren't spending so much time on a creeper. Working over your head is way easier than doing it over your face in a cramped space with no leverage.
Tuned in a bit late. Was replacing exhaust on the ‘62 Buick. Finally got the tractor muffler off and tailpipe out of the driver’s side rear wheel well. Got it started, no leaks. Then it died. Fuel pump rebuild in the morning. Thanks to all of you there to help motivate me. Frankers wore me out watching her chase that tire. Keep on keeping on. These cars deserve caretakers as you do. Myles’ Poncho is looking sweet. Dare I say again, he finds some real good stuff. Moparponch will be his new nickname lol. Thanks again.
A welcome departure from those of us in the lower 48 from the usual spectacle of the ‘news cycle.’ As a declaration of of that misery, I pronounce 2024 as the year of the CWM hoist, without which none of the critical origins of the ‘59 Buick’s driveline’s irregularities could be identified and remedied. Superb contributions by Myles & Ash as usual.
and here I sit in Vegas, they say after my Birthday and a great Dead show at the Sphere, awaiting the next, enjoying what is legal here and not at home and heading to another show tonight, however, Saturday is not Saturday without Coldwarmotors! That's right, must watch before going to show!
Holy crap! What a show! Ripple, Franklin's tower, Terrippan, Morning Dew, Uncle John's band, Samson and Delilah...whole night was like that...freaking amazing!
...did I hear that right...Lady HoneyBunny's actual name is Shawn?...if she is going to prep that transmission for you, that's true love, right there....thanks for the great show, Shawn and Scott.....
Always love the Easter egg at the end of the videos and probably helps your numbers a lot too when people like me look out for it. RU-vid must hate that this is exactly what a lot of us want to watch. Keep sticking it to them. Great show this week boys and girls.
You made that Biscala back end splice look so damned easy (and yes I know it took hours). As you said now you have a car that is square, doors fit and everything is back where it should be. Just a great job... But yes get a boot (trunk) floor panel. Sometimes its a trade off between time and cost and that floor is pretty well shot. With the LeSabre you have two cars in build ... YAAAAYYY!
Frankers doing the Scooby Doo tire chase? This is hands down the best show on the internet. Now talk to the folks at Strong's and solidify their number 2 status.
That hoist is the great! It's already proving to be a big help. All of the future projects will be a lot easier (figuratively speaking) since you'll be able to stand up under them. I remember crawling under a few cars, and I would've enjoyed dropping starters or replacing tie rods if I could have been standing while trying to wrestle them apart. But enough about me; "Classic Tire" was its' usual brilliance, Ms. Francine ever the diva, and Hunny bunny is going to tackle the Buick's transmission. The more I hear about this lady...wow, the gears of the Universe must have been aligned perfectly for Scott to meet her. Cheers!
What a busy week- progress on all fronts: the Buick, '60 Impala, and even a Classic Tire on the Kaiser (I STILL think your Packard straight 8 would look awesome under the hood of the Kaiser)! I know through the magic of editing, all of this progress looked like a relatively painless 'forgone conclusion', but I also know from personal experience how deceiving an illusion that is. Thanks again for taking us along for the ride! P.S.- I'll never get tired of the jam session clips of the band! 👍
This episode was worth waiting for. Those classic tires look great on the Kaiser. A big Thanks to Myles and Ash for helping you out and you did a fabulous job on the welds as well as getting that quarter panel straight. Cheers from your wacky neighbor from the South.
Yes, Ash and Myles aways a big help!! Good people! New Honey Bunny does detailed work also! Glad to see her aboard. Lotsa fun stuff Scott, you have accomplished MUCH this past week! Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Rich
Scott I am really happy to see the Chevy coming along so well, it's going to be a rare piece ,not many left. The lift is proving to be a wonderful addition to the shop ,so much easier, and it really speeds up the project. If you can find the high transmission jack it will really be a nice accessory, and make it so much easier to do transmission work. I finally have all those things but I'm too old to use it. People offer to buy these tools, but it hurts to let them go. Enjoy them Scott you earned every piece.
Hi Scott, Money versus time is a balancing act that most of us have to do no matter what your passion is. In my youth I was told by a great elderly man "every one has either time or money very few have both" CWM watched! Now, my Sunday can begin. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Nice to see a little progress on the '59 Buick in today's episode. Great progress on project Biscala finally seeing the two halves together on a more permanent basis. Well done Scott.
I must be starving for entertainment. It was so trippy watching the camera work in my classic tire. The hoist has been especially useful. Ash's Datsun is sweet.
We sold those tires in my father's gas station in the sixties. It is fun to see them again. If I remember correctly, you would be lucky to get more than ten thousand miles out of them on our hot Arizona roads.
Now the Buick looks correct! Nice job on the torque tube Honey Bunny! I don't think Scott could have got it back into place without your help! Everything you do on the Impala looks like big steps. It appears all the planning and double checking is paying off! Excellent Classic Tire with Steven! With the engine and tranny out of the Buick moving it about will be so much easier. Good work Myles and Ashley! You two really saved Scott a lot of time! Thank all of you for sharing!!
Good to see Stephen on the My Classic Tire segment..need a Saab update. Thanks for taking us along for this week's explotes. Agents and Honey Bunny are pulling hard, thanks.
Great episode!! Thanks for showing us just how the Biscayne/Impala splice works back there at the wheel tubs and package tray. I know it's fiddly and uncomfortable to film in the car but I, and I'm sure many others, find it fascinating just how these cars fit together. LOVED the new/old Gulf tires on the Kaiser! The Keystone Cops tire chase featuring the lovely Frankkers gave me a belly laugh!! Thanks for your channel!
Lots of progress this week! Watching Myles leave reminded me how much I like the Poncho’s stance - I like my ‘60’s cars with mags and a little altitude! Cheers and see you next week!
Good progress on all the projects. That flying Buick is a sight to behold. It is a UFO when it lands! Great content as always, thank you! Cheers! 😎👍🏎🏁🏁
I knew someone who owned a 1959 car from each GM division when I was a kid. My dad had a 59 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 that we travelled to California in when we moved from Kansas in 1960. That was a cool car - very space age - but I think the 59 Buicks were the prettiest of the lot. Best of luck in your Buick project!
Great progress on both the Biscala and Buick. What great work by you all and good that you have such reliable help from the agents. Good luck to Honey Bunny on the cycle project, license and the Buick tranny. There may actually be a transmission under all that caked on grime.
I watch every Thursday and every Saturday and have done so for years. My name is in the credits in very small print but it is there every month. Cheers!
I bet you're wondering how the f##k you lived without a hoist all these years... what a gem. I've been looking forward to your episodes for more than 5 years. Keep up the good works saving these classics.
Another great episode- crazy score on those old Gulf tires way back when - connections are amazing- no one I know ever turned me on to 50 sets of tires. Can’t believe how many hours Ash and Myles and the guys put in- damn good friends
They're getting there, every day a little more. I'm wondering how not having the body mounts tying it to the frame is affecting the process of stability . I remember before you showed them rotted out in the rear and I'm wondering if you replaced or compensated for them or if they don't matter until you need to drive it. I'd love to get a chance to get some of your shirts reissued, I just need 4x size which I know you didn't have when you first ran them. If you want me to pre pay for the new ones no worries, I'm more than happy to. Glad it's turning out well and I know you're loving that new lift more every day!👍🎉 Love the Carson butt stamp out going into "Classic Tire" and the blazers are just next level spiffy right up there with the deluxe crown! Yeah, that's the condition you use on what the tank and car museums call a "static " display vehicle, something that's good to look at but definitely not anything you want to use to operate the vehicle ever, atleast safely! Thanks again guys and Frankers!
Scott, yet another classic episode including "tubeless" nylon bias 4 ply Gulf Gas Station tyres! Still in front of the camera averse Honey Bunny, turns out to be well versed in antique GM Dynaflows, the Zen of motorcycle maintenance, guitar riffing, camera swinging, tool gathering etc. etc. Holy Moses Sandals! Big shoutout to Ash and the indomitable Myles for heavy duty Buick powertrain dismantleship! Thanks for another work-in-progress vignette of the "Splice is Right" as Scott Fischer once again practices early 60s GM model crossover legerdemain! Frankers jumped into "Classic Tire" with grace and her usual high tone aplomb! Mega Cheers to all at CWMs! Did miss Tom's cat stories though...Waiting for the 37 tee for my next visit to the high desert elites!
Scott, I am sure you are correct. That torque tube and rear axle assembly almost certainly came from another car and probably a car from another year. All '59 4 door hardtops have the same wheel base with the exception of the Electra 225. For example my '56 Special has a 122 inch wheel base but the Super and Roadmaster both have a 127 inch wheel base. Make sure you have a good torque ball seal behind the transmission on the new torque tube. They are notorious for leaking. Cheers.
Absolutely loved the MCT montage w/ Frankers! Reminded me of a Bugs Bunny cartoon had me rolling. Wow tons of good stuff coming up.Nice job on the welding as well! Have a great and safe week ,See you on Thursday.
My Dad bought the exact same car and year. Kaiser It made it home, and that was it. I never even got a ride in it. At that time, a Ford sedan with plenty of whiskey dents, but a roaring V8 and it could peel out, was The Next Family Car. Back then if your car could peel out,it was instant cool. Otherwise, the bad gals wouldn't get in. Sometimes you had to dump out a few guys to make room for them, and then peel out a good used tire would be like $10 at the tire guy store ,which of course is $100 now Henry J.Kaiser also made a funny compact car,the "Henry J" The Kaiser & Frazer union in automaking is a interesting tale, A Good Show,Scott....the SOS
Great show! Thanks to the whole volunteer crew! 30 yrs ago there were maybe 5-10 of these Buicks around town. Daily driven SURVIVORS! A green LeSabre wagon( the style WORKED on the wagon!) , a frost teal Invicta, a black Electra convertible. Also a bright red repainted 4 dr Electra. A white and a silver I only glimpsed from a distance. Only the red one now. He has a big gas budget, see him everywhere & its a 401......
Hi Scott, Love the Biscala project. You make it look much easier than it is. I watch every episode. Then I get the nerve to try some of what I learn on my own projects. I never held a hammer or a dolly before but I mimic what you’ve done and keep trying it until I get it done. Great stuff. Keep it coming- I’ve got two more cars to finish!
