On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 5-24-21.
We're looking at the brochures from a 1959 from Ford regarding the Fairlane.
The brochures are from Dennis Roxworthy sharing his 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable & 352 CI Engine & Ride.
Here is a link to the full video of the 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable. • 1959 Ford Fairlane 500...

All the art work that went into these brochures…not a computer in sight! Very talented artists & creative marketers. Thanks Lou for a close-up of these!

Simply amazing! Thank you Lou, for this wonderful segment from Mr. Roxworthy's collection. Early in my career I worked as a graphic designer, and in the printing industry. From all the tremendous hand-drawn and hand-painted artwork, to the complex hand-done film work, with many printing plates processed to create these brochures, these brochures are automotive masterpieces! Thank you Dennis and Lou for sharing them!

Too bad we can’t time travel back to 59 Lou all the cool cars and 50’s lifestyle! Car marketing was huge back in the day! And all the wonderful human drawn graphics!

Hi, Lou! Looks like Dennis has all the bases covered as far as '59 Ford literature! Looking at the station wagons, 1959 was the only year the Country Sedan came in two-door form. Not too many were made, so you would be very lucky to find one today. And I certainly don't know of any other sales literature of a wedding invitation. Lee Iacocca was definitely the master salesman! BTW, if you're really into auto sales literature, you ought to get "The Complete U.S. Automobile Sales Literature Checklist, 1946-2000" by Kenneth N. Eisbrener. It will tell you just about every piece of sales literature that was ever printed! Thank you, Lou and Dennis, for taking us on this '59 Ford literary tour!

Half the fun of buying a car in the fifties and sixties was the brochures and the shiny new cars in the showrooms.

I bet that I am one of the very few that prefer the small pillar roofline over the Galaxie roofline! Can't explain it! Would love to have a two-door hard in blue and white...............with 352 and 3-speed/overdrive!
