My older brother bought a 1959 T-Bird with a 463 cubic inch engine. It was all black inside and out. He toke me to the Black Canyon Freeway (Phoenix I-17 now)and got it up to 140 on the speedometer. I was 14 and somewhat scared. Oh, and the ladies loved it.
Spectacular car! I always preferred the "square birds" to the two seaters.....the 58-60's have always been the best designed T-birds in my opinion. Just beautiful...true American work of art!
Excellent video! I own a 59 Thunderbird Convertible. Red/white interior, black exterior 352 V8. I love the car. It's quiet. What a thrill to drive. It has lots of power when you need it.
They had a print ad in 1959 that shows a red 59 convertible in front of a mansion with a mini version of the 59 Tbird called a Thunderbird Junior that was a powered promotional car used by dealers to attract customers. I have the factory original molds that made the Thunderbird JR fiberglass body and can make replacement original bodies along with most of the other parts. Check my videos to learn more about JR cars from the Powercar company of Mystic CT
