@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I have watched alot of the videos. but not any metal repair or panel replacement for the 1947-54 series. I have a 1954 chevrolet 3100 and a 54 Gmc I'm getting ready to start Restoring. Videos on cowl panels, Rear Cab Panel, Floor pans, Pillar sections etc.. I've owned them for more 30 years and time to give them a makeover. I'm a fair welder but I could little use some of Dave Welch's instructions. I've watched almost all of his videos even the old ones. Great help.

How's the knees Dave ? Picked up a cool little knee saver awhile ago it's a small heavy foam pad you can pick up at harbor freight, probably 24"×12" really works well and fairly cheap. Nice work btw 👍

Hello Brothers! Just a small question..i see and enjoy many of your body works and weldings. I restore a 1960 Apache Truck with new sheet metal in cab. So i just wondering what thickness you use in your welding core? And do you use gasless flux core or with argon gas. Thanks for answering. Robert j

Under what circumstances would you brace the cab?
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 2 года назад
If you were to remove the entire floor at the same time and maybe a rocker panel as well. Really just anytime you feel like the cab "could" be weakened. There's really no wrong time to brace it, we always say it's better to be cautious than reckless.
@lowpro87

Wouldn't you drill spot welds hold first in the new panel be4 u weld ?
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 3 года назад
I do that underneath on the rockers when I do them, basically because it's easier than laying on my back drilling holes. But when the holes are easy to see and access, I prefer to drill them in place. Honestly, there's no right way, either way works!
