Great stuff Cameron, you've done an amazing job. Your expertise, knowledge and skill are second to none. That, together with your personality makes these videos essential viewing for me 🤗👍
I actually owned this same model and sold it around 8 years ago. I still own the tea set though. Broke my heart to sell it. Site fees escalated too high for me to afford them.😢 loved my caravan. This brings back so many memories for me. Thankyou it looks stunning.
What a little gem. How I wish I could find something like that here in Canada and if only I had your talents for restoration!!! Enjoy for me too:) Thank you for sharing:)
That was really interesting - the second door and the toilet also and the way they used the cushions to make the bed and then used it to make the seating up after - I got a 1989 caravan and it only has basic furniture and I particularly liked the way the cupboard folded out to give privacy between the two areas of sleeping - that should be in all caravans today too - I only have a bench seating - kitchen and a bed with a cupboard for storage
❤Absolutely love mid century too and I’ve spotted a little carlight whilst visiting my own caravan at the storage yard. It needs a little tlc but it looks amazing and I’m intrigued so thanks for the video as it’s lovely to see inside
Dear Sir, you are a competent young man and what a superb report you have produced. It makes me want to own one of these vintage caravans. I wish you every success in your future activities and a happy new year 2023. Best regards from Switzerland. Walter
Thank you Walter for your kind words, I’m glad that my enthusiasm for vintage caravans is spreading! Please do subscribe to my channel, there’s quite a few vintage caravan tours coming to this channel in 2023! All the best, Cameron.
I’m working on it! We’ve been living in the Major for a couple of months while we have major house renovations so it needs a really good tidy up before I film it 😂
Another great video. Think you should do a site cruise around some of the old sites that caravan might have visited in the UK 🇬🇧. Cheers Paul and Sarah
Stylish video and a stylish Caravan. Really enjoying your content although at 41 years of age I just missed getting B&E so unless I buy a smaller classic car (lots of Land Rovers) I need to sort that before I get to play with my own Caravan resto. You have an eye for colour and design and an enthusiasm for your subject that makes your content very enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for the compliments Alan! If you don’t have a B+E, you can drive an outfit with a combined maximum weight of 3500kgs. So if your Range Rover weighs 2500kgs, that leaves you 1000kgs for a caravan, which is most classic caravans under 16ft. This Car Cruiser barely tips the scale at 900kgs, for example.
Very interesting video. Loved all the memorabilia too. That brought back memories. The twin doors are such a good idea for continental touring. I can remember that we’d always wave if we saw another English caravan when abroad - they were easy to spot as a lot had boat-shaped roofs. Thanks 👍🏻
Great to have another video from you and to see another of your fantastic caravans. The little touches such as the matching crockery and all the fascinating history really add to the overall you of this. Good work Cameron!
I absolutely love your videos! The love and attention to detail you out into your restorations are wonderful to see. Here another fascinating step back in history and insightful look back at carvaning history. I beauty of a van! thank you for filming and sharing! I fully agree so often caravan design gets overlooked. Too many reviews focusing in the fact and figures of payload and heating system and hardly ever comment on the design. What fun to take this one back to France (&,Belgium) an I love that big ol sky light! A remarkable transformation from the neglected photo in someone's garden! Looking forward to more videos loved them all so far so thank you for sharing!
Thank you Raymond, I’m really happy that these videos are bringing people joy and it was important to me to get close ups of all the details because those are the bits that people remember most. All the time people get the year or model of their childhood caravan wrong, but they’re very specific about gas lamps and water foot pumps! So I want to show off all aspects of the caravans that I feature
What a beautiful restoration! It's absolutely beautiful, the crockery is lovely, and the paperwork you have with it, was fascinating to see...how lovely to have all that history to go with it...I'm with you sentimental old thing that I am. Keep up the good work!❤ x
The second door at the back was so that if you needed to use the loo you could exit the caravan by the front, and re-enter directly to the loo without disturbing anybody eating/sleeping in that side of the caravan.
Loved the crockery set and did I spy a little set of melamine cups n saucers (white inside & each one a diff colour) ? My first experience was in 1963 ish. Marilyn Munroe died while we were on holiday in that van. Just remember all the earwigs in it!!
Same water pump as in my Sting caravan frome 1972, whale is the brand of the pump. My Sting is located in Sweden and we use it for familly camping. Not a luxury camper but very old ;) Do you got info about the Sting caravans? Thank you for cool video
I really would like to book a week in a Car Cruiser, rather than in a guest house! Not to go anywhere, touring wise, but perhaps at the seaside, and go out for daytrips in the car!
The splash back is the same leather cloth as the rest of the caravan. It’s a much more heavy duty version of fablon. The underside of the kitchen worktop is aluminium, so it’s a wipe clean splash back
This is a fascinating video Cameron, we have a the Clubman model 1958. We were able to purchase it from the original owner who had rallied it for many years and we have all of the badges with dates. The caravan is 90% original and we are aiming to conservatively restore back to original specification. It was originally painted pale sage green, with a cream/white roof, but is now grey although most of the paint has flaked off. I assume it should have coach enamel type paint but we are unsure of the original exact colours. Would you know of any colour ranges offered for these caravans around that time? Thank you for creating these videos they are much appreciated.
Sadly it wasn’t in the caravan when I got it, but it had the cabinet to take the set, so I knew that it had it originally. I managed to source a full set in excellent condition on eBay but I can’t say what it cost me in case my other half is reading the comments 😂
I strongly disagree. As someone who works on modern caravans, the Car Cruiser is exquisitely built compared. Real ash wood framework with neat hand cut joints. The aluminium trims were also folded over themselves to conceal the screws that held them on, which I’ve never seen on another caravan. The walls are 38mm thick, the average modern caravan is 25mm…
