STORY
In this video, we explore a seemingly perfect house on the outskirts of the USA. The house was abandoned for only a decade, but half of it has already collapsed. We braved the dangerous obstacles and made our way inside, where we were greeted with a fascinating glimpse into the past.
The house was once owned by a loving American couple who had a passion for music. The husband spent his days collecting music and making music in local events. After his wife passed away and his children moved away, he was left alone in the house.
The house is a time capsule of the 1960s, with its retro furniture, appliances, and decor. We found old records, sheet music, and even a guitar that belonged to the husband. It was like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse into the life of this beloved musician.
We hope you enjoy this video as much as we did exploring this amazing place. Are you ready to join us on another adventure?

Every time I see a house like this I get vaguely angry at the thought that the house was just left to rot when someone else could have lived in it. It wasn't sold; it wasn't rented; it wasn't donated; it was just wasted while other people became homeless.

Guess whoever owns it just couldn't be bothered with it. It is sad for sure.

Absolutely agree, to many people in need to let things just rot away. It makes me sad and, angry. The waste is a sin..I'm 63 I am to the point if nobody is going to claim it, than more power to anyone who wants to rescue items, to donate or cherish themselves. Better then them rotting..I do no agree with people who go in to trash and, destroy. That is a crime..love these videos. It has made me aware of what my kids want and, don't so I'll be cleaning out things so my things don't end up on a show like this in 20 years...🌸🐦

Thanks Lesley and Danny. I love it when you guys explore together. It is surprising the amount of decay in just 12 years. I'm thinking the house may not have been properly maintained for many years while the old gentleman was still living there. Thanks for taking us along guys. PLEASE be careful!

A lot of older people will move downstairs. Into the living room. Because they are having trouble moving around. It just makes life easier. You need to always take Danny with you. He has a level head. All you see is adventure. Take care and be safe.🤕

In Europe, roofing is often slate or tile. American builders did not have easy access to stone for construction for any but grand buildings. Even Brick was not affordable in much of the country. So the "stick and frame" residential building is the norm with asphalt tile roofs that last, at best, 25 years before needing to be resurfaced. Storms, tornados, high winds, the weight of ice and snow sitting on an abandoned structure will quickly fail causing decay and collapse. Many modern homes are built with steel framing but still, roofing and walls are vulnerable. So think of our homes and farms as ephemeral antiques. Filming them, as you do, means that much more. When I was an American child living in Japan in the 1950s, I entered an abandoned Japanese home near my home. I always felt guilty about doing that but now I am glad I did after watching what you do. I moved nothing, took nothing, but stood in awe seeing how a small, rural Japanese family lived during the war and thought they may not have survived the war. The house was silent, beautiful in its simplicity and dignity. And you cannot find a more ephemeral bit of architecture than an old, Japanese, small town, family home. The experience is still a marker in my life. I never told anyone before now, about my early explore, as I would have been in a lot of trouble if anybody had known. Thank you for what you do.

What you entered is called a tornado shelter, where you run outside and get in when there is a impending tornado. Very important and necessary to have if you live in "tornado alley" strip down through the middle of the USA. This house was in serious disrepair for a long time before 2011 when the elderly gent left. He must not have put any money into repair it from the day he lost his wife at a young age and raising his children probably took all his money. I suspect they wanted him to come live with them within one or the other of their lives and he refused. I know a lot of older people like that, and they refuse help. He lost himself in his music and did not care if the place fell down around him. This kind of decay takes decades!

Hello once more Lesley and Danny, Well done on another epic adventure, one of the craziest I've seen you guys do so far... This place was definitely a "time capsule'', but not a 'good' time. You guys were crazy for taking the risk of exploring this one! The furniture and decor was truly special, with the 8-track stereos appearing to be the most modern appliances shown other than the refrigerator, didn't even see a microwave. Those two stereos were probably from the early '70s, as they didn't even have cassette players... The big German record player /radio as well as the kitchen table and chairs definitely looked '50s, and the green chair in what remains of the living room was late '40s or early '50s too. Much appreciation for taking the time and chance to explore this house for us to see, and to Danny for his wonderful filming and editing skills!! As usual, hope you guys are doing well and having fun out there, best wishes always!! Eric W.

I was 7 years old in 1949 when my parents bought a new house in suburban Chicago. The kitchen cabinets were white steel the same as shown here, and our kitchen table and chairs were very similar to these; a hand me down from my grandparents, who had just sold their house and moved to Florida.

Definitely a true time capsule! The Christmas decorations Leslie didn't know the name of is Nativity Scene. The kitchen furniture and stove as well as the German Radiogram are really collectible antique now. Sadly this will probably be totally collapsed before the end of 2023. I had opportunity to check out one place like this when I was young but too afraid to drop through the floor and be trapped and nobody to locate me so i didn't go in the fallen down area

Yes, my parents used to call the Nativity Scene a "Creche" ("By the late 18th century, crèche (which we borrowed from French and now sometimes spell without the accent mark... and the word had lost its former "manger" meaning, coming to refer instead to a representation of the Nativity scene itself." ~Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

Leslie and Danny! This was not a good idea guys! I don’t get any enjoyment in watching you take such drastic risks and doing things that could really cause you to have a terrible accident! Thank you Dannyfor having more common sense and for speaking up about the dangers there and how far Leslie was willing to risk his life! Leslie, we love you and enjoy your adventures but we do not want you to get hurt! Please don’t do that anymore! I personally would greatly miss your sweet kiss goodbye!💜👍🏻💜

German accent? My pops came over to the USA when he was 12. He's still going strong at 83. I'm 57, I'll never make it as long as, him. Thank god! lol. Great job as always, young men.

Yes those are called record albums and called 33’s and the small ones are called 45’s and the older ones are called 78’s and those 78’s are from the 1920’s and 30’s an 40’s to the 50’s era and the 45’s and 33’s were from the 60’s and 70’s to the 80’s era. We used to collect them.

Interesting power outlet/light switches there -- the combination, ungrounded and sometimes three outlets. The big console you thought was a radio is a hifi. Its top lifts to reveal a record turntable. Ah, I commented too early. Carry on!

That one old record player with the lift top was a Telefunken. German, started out in 1908 and are still making products like microphones and such.

It is weird to put newspapers on the counter tops. That’s not a common American thing. My guess is also as you said the man didn’t want the countertops to get damaged. Those vintage kitchen pieces would fetch good money in a resale shop.

The only time I've seen newspapers on the counter is when there could be a huge mess. Pumpkin innards or potting soil, for example. Just toss the paper into the trash instead of cleaning half the kitchen. 🙂

I think people with cats do this also to keep the cats from walking on the counters

The 8 track player in the turntable brought back memories. They build with wood rather than stones or bricks and mortar in most of the u.s. because it's cheaper.

Lindo!!

To bad the house can't be repaired and I love the 60s retro furniture myself. I would also love to know who the musician was to.
