I put this display of 49 tree toppers up at the Cincinnati Golden Glow of Christmas Past Convention in 2018. Many of these are three-way and four-way flashing.
Wow what memories it was so enchanting back in the 70s i can remember laying under mamas tree staring u at the glittering twinkling colors and falling asleep now its all dull and unexciting
These tree toppers take me back to my childhood Christmases even though my family never had one in our home ( my mom thought they were tacky ). I remember seeing them atop Christmas trees in stores and diners so they still played a part in creating my fond memories of the holiday.
Waoooo that is amazing. When I was kid, my mom bought one of this ,( the round flashing Santa) but unfortunately it broke down after 5 days of using. Anyway those tree tops were very popular in my neighborhood and I loved it. This video brought me such a good memories from my childhood . Thank you.
I Love all kind of tree toppers, I used to have some of them, time runs away and then they brocked up, I made one simirliar with leds ligths, is not the same, but looks like.
Your Display is Beautiful. You have an amazing collection. If it were me, I wouldn't be able to pick my favorite. Just Beautiful...Thanks For Sharing this beautiful collection...Have a Blessed Day...Dar
As a kid born in the 70s I did remember riding my bmx bike to Woolworth’s they had some good ones for under $5.00 and local candy store had some cool rare ones from japan. You have wonderful collection it’s great to see you preserve history. I just found your channel today and subscribed.
The chirping tree topper, LOL! I see them for sale from time to time, but I still never bought one. Can the chirping mechanism be turned on and off, just having the lights on? Coincidentally, I have five chirping balls, and I am one of the few people who enjoys hearing them.
My absolute favorite is the one what was on our tree when I was little. If you look up "Reknown 41 light tree topper- Spinning Light" on my channel you will see it.
OMG! My grandmother use to have that EXACT same yellow and gold star at 6:08. She bought it in Toronto in 1966 at Honest Ed's for $4.99! She had that star all the way up till Christmas of 1998 and in all those years, she never had to replace 1 light bulb! I've been searching for so long to find that star and I have never been able to find that exact same one. Is it for sale?? If so, how much are you asking??
The first advice I always give is to never mix old and new bulbs. The burn with different current ratings, and because of that you would burn out your whole set. I find my best source of replace bulbs (steady and quick flashing) is old fifty-light five-way flashing strands. They are 12 volt bulbs, and they come in all five colors. I've never bought packages of replacement bulbs for these, but I am sure you can find them on eBay from time to time.
@@Christmasmemories1 Thanks. Yes, I'm aware of not mixing old and new bulbs. I have been doing the same with some old sets that use 12 volt bulbs, but I hate to borrow bulbs from a working set. I was hoping there was a modern supplier of rapid flashing bulbs because the modern 12 volts don't blink as fast. A lot of times I retrofit bulbs.
You just don't see pretty stars on the market like this anymore. It's all just this plain "cookie-cutter" plastic LED crap!! Years ago, they were so much more glamorous and traditional looking.
