What you see here is my 1960s Fleur-O-Ray 22w T9 preheat circline fluorescent adapter installed on one of my Jonathan Y bare bulb table lamps that I used in my college dorm. I personally find this combination quite interesting because it seems strange to have a fixturelike circline adapter installed in a table lamp intended for use with bare bulbs. In the fall of next semester, I plan to use this lamp and adapter as my main desk lamp being surrounded with two other bare bulb desk lamps with 22w T9 preheat circline fluorescent adapters as well. When the adapter is mounted this way, the ballast hum is more noticeable.

What a neat concept! Turn a surface-mounted porcelain socket into a circline fluorescent fixture in seconds - without any wiring!
