A suborbital hypersonic jet passenger-cruiser was envisioned in the early 1980's under Reagan but was later abandoned. A movie was made about it back then starring Lee Majors. It could fly you anywhere in the world in just four hours- everywhere on Earth is within 12,500 miles or less of each other. And by flying westward the Earth's rotation made the journey even quicker.

@@Jeffrey314159 that including the EPA banning hypersonic aircraft flying over forests that would scare the locale wildlife and suburbia America do to sonic booms.

Baby monitor, microwave ovens, and prepackaged frozen food came in the 1970s. Some of these are on today's horizon. Lest we forget this is a time of slide rules, trig and log tables, lp records, and library cards. Televisions were black and white, had 3 channels, ran from 6:30 am to 11:30 pm, and began and ended with station identification and the Star Spangler Banner. Shopping was downtown, and a Sears catalog was was a often go to shopping source, especially Christmas. There were repair workers, and shops. Air conditioning was uncommon to rare. Grocery shopping included S & H Green Stamps, push button cash register, and automatic coin change machine. Calculators had cranks, ledgers were pen and paper, printing was typing and the memograph machine. A telephone call across state lines cost $1.00 per minute. For comparison gas was around $0.30 per gallon. Meat came wrapped in taped wax paper with grape stain print.

It's hilarious to look back on what futurist saw for the 1980s to 2000. Majority got it wrong on what the home would be like

1984 and still wearing a dress. Where are her pants darn it! But they got it right in this one, solar homes, indoor gardens, high tech fridge, robovac that vaccums and mops and is 2022 I watched this. When it was posted in 2010 still was mostly a dream.

Er...Our technology is amazing! LOL so much has been done since the 50's/60's. They had to read the newspaper or wait until designated times to get the news and we can access it anywhere via phones, tv or internet. They relied on home phones or phoneboxes to connect with people and we can call or text anyone in the world at anytime. Their music were on massive 9 inch plastic records but we have access to thousands of songs via an invisible mp3. To people in the 50's this really is like space age

@Shonenut213 Some of these we do. We can have our own power to our houses (solar panels), centralized vacuums do exist (my uncle has one, you connect a hose to ports scattered around the house next to the electrical plugs), filter water (those Brita pitchers, etc.), indoor hoods for growing plants are available though not common, you COULD install CCTV and intercoms in your house: it's just a matter of cost. And some things we don't have now cause other more convenient things take their place :)

i love these 50's-60's future ideas, they had vision back then.. kinda sad really as all our technical achievements today is full of shitty restricted iphones and flat screen tv's. pretty sad the only reason we dont have anti gravity cars and free energy is because they cant physically put a meter on and control it

Did this video air in America? Because I found the frame rate to be 25 fps, the frame rate of PAL, the television system in the UK, Europe, and Australia; whereas the television system here in America is NTSC, whose frame rate is 30 (or 29.97) fps.

Well all this stuff just seems 'cool' but in reality would be way to expensive to install and way to impractical as well. All of the stuff mentioned in the video could have been done in 1985, but people just chose not to.

Haha, so you'll still have a 60's stereotypical hairstyle and be a slave to cooking in your kitchen in 1985? It's funny that s been more than twice as long as this predicts but yet the basics of a kitchen haven't changed that much, lol.
