1960s Triang Vintage Cine Footage with Princess and EM2 locomotives and the same models today. 

This is the first time I have seen such an in depth study of the EM2. Growing up in Partick back in the old days tgere wasn’t a lot of money around so I couldn’t ask for an electric train set for Christmas besides, it would require putting a shilling in the meter which we couldn’t afford.

Got to love Triang. I just received a Triang Minic white Jaguar 3.2 (or.4?) which I saw on a South African online bidding website. A friend got it for me and brought it over last week. I doubt it has run in many years, but as soon as power was applied to the tiny little motor inside, I could see that it was raring to go. Triang and it's friendly rival Hornby Dublo will be around for another half century, the products were extremely well made; designed for the rigours of childhood abuse. And now collectors are seeing the value in these models and how precious they are, they will be more than well looked after from now on. I would be very happy with a layout like yours, It all looks so splendid along with the Minic set up. My collection is packed away in storage at the moment, but the day is approaching when I can eventually start putting something together. Thanks for sharing your lovely memories with us all...... and your great models.

Thank you for your detail and effort and interest in your subject. My first electric locomotive was a second hand Britannia which I still have 60yrs later. It still runs. A little worn by my younger years. It gave me my love for Triang and scale model trains now in my retirement. Thank you for your effort.

Nice! My first train was a Triang Princess Elizabeth from the 1960’s. Sadly it is long gone so now I have the Hornby silver Jubilee version

I tried to buy the EM2 kit from a Tri-ang dealership in Bolton town-centre but the staff had absolutely no idea what I was talking about!

How does your Single run? If you saw my videos on it, I have replaced the magnet with sone lead weights in an effort to help it negotiate the points. There is a sweet spot in terms of speed that facilitates this. I am thinking of adding pickups to the front bogie as OOBill has done

After melting down half me layout, I be gutting out me Hornbee and replacing with a Marx double reduction motor.
