This short video is by courtesy of a Michael Clemens B&R video, who kindly gave me permission to use various clips from another of his collection of videos. The footage from this one is called Along LMS Lines Pt 1 Euston To Stafford. It shows a few Trolley Buses in Dudley & Wolverhampton along with a brief look at Wolverhampton High Level Station in the 1960s. Enjoy

Ah yes, being stuck on a trolley bus on Dudley road, waiting for the conductor to get out and hook us up again in 1950s Wolverhampton. Long time ago and a long way away from Tasmania, Australia, where I'm typing this.

My grandad was a Wolverhampton trolley bus driver when he came to live in England from Poland after the war in 1947, worked on the regular busses until 1978.

Those trolley busses were nifty things. Bought back loads of memories including my Nan saying were going into town on the buzz. The low level shots were ace too, thanks for sharing.

John Middleditch Cheers John, they certainly were a nippy form of transport, I daresay you may well remember a slight problem with them was when they came off the wires at various junctions and the conductor had to get the pole out to reconnect them, thanks for looking/commenting...Bill

Trolley buses where nicknamed 'silent killers' back in the day, the quiet and swift movement caught many pedestrians out.

Yeah. That was exactly what my mum said when I was coming home from school in September 1962, the trolleybus that my mum & I boarded at the Scotlands off Mill Lane was #449.

Mike, I did see your trolley bus video, which I thought was excellent. This one came about because I was watching one of the many railway DVDs I have and I spotted the clip of Wolverhampton High Level taken in the 60s before the wires went up. I have found it very rare to see either High Level or Low Level on many videos so I thought I would put this short clip up which included the trolley buses. Thanks for watching/commenting, cheers...Bill

Great vintage footage Bill, and what about those trolleybuses? We had Sunbeams and Dwellers and BUTs in Glasgow - happy memories. Liked the steam loco clips too. Thanks. Ken

Hi Bill. Just about remember Trolley Buses in Wolverhampton but never saw a Duchess/Semi in New Street. Cheers, Dave.

Dave, thanks for looking, nice to know this bought back a few memories for you. Regarding not seeing Semi's at New Street, they did occasionally work the Wolverhampton High Level - Euston jobs, worked by Bushbury men I believe, I know my father in law and my brother in law worked with this class of loco and they were Bushbury men, cheers...Bill

Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, nice to know you enjoyed the video. The only thing I can suggest is that if you paid a visit to the bus depot in Park Lane Wolverhampton you maybe able to find information regarding the trolley buses there, cheers...Bill
