She is looking so much happier, and is a Deluxe Reading Boo Baby and she crys if you take out the paci as far as I can find out, not sure if she does anything else. If she has white stuff that is mold that likes plastic only on her eyes, vinegar or bleach will get rid of it for good. You might have to do it more than once if it is real bad. You find it on a lot of cheaper dolls in the 50s and 60s. If someone is allergic with breathing problems to bleach like I am, I found that if Dawn isn't enough then baking soda and a mild vinegar mixed paste helps. I personally use the original Gojo without pumice to clean, as I use that for composition and bisque dolls, suggested to me by museum antique doll restorers, it helps with very dirty plastic dolls as well without damaging the coloring. It goes on very thin and when you wipe off with an old white cotton tshirt, you will be amazed what all kind of dirt comes off. On composition dolls you can't use water so this works wonders. On plastic, vinyl and bisque dolls you can damp wipe them after. The little doll is cute too. I done have one like her but she reminds me of those Sun Rubber Company (1923-1974) rubber squeeker dolls. I have one that is Little Red Riding Hood. I hope to find a Gerber Baby some day from them.
Thank you. Hopefully I can get her working again. Thanks for looking her up for me. She sounds fantastic. I hope you find your Gerber baby. I've seen them around on ebay. I'm looking for a flirty eyes doll myself. Good luck to both of us huh.
I know how you feel with having pain! It sucks! I have fibromyalgia, CFS & RLS! I hope you’re pain less for you! Cute dolls you found! Exactly I agree if people want to better themselves it’s their choice and their lives! I’m a suicide survivor I attempted suicide 2 years I’m still waiting for mine own counseling to go too!
Hi Honey Bee. I recently found a book that provides information on dolls from the 1960's and 70's. I found your Deluxe Reading doll in it. According to the book, it is a Baby Boo doll. She has a crying mechanism insider her torso. When the pacifier is pulled out the doll cries. When the pacifier is placed back in her mouth she stops crying. She also cries when she is placed close to a light and stops when removed from the light.
the doll with the pacifier is baby boo, when you turn on the light the doll starts crying until you turn the light off or cover it up with a blanket or give it the pacifier
So you know the pain too. I'm sorry that you're dealing with it. Have you found a relief from the pain? I'll keep ya'll up to date. RA is what they're thinking might be my problem. I'm waiting to review the latest test results with my doctor.
