Mantovani was Britain's most successful album act before the Beatles and the first artist to sell over one million stereo albums and have six albums simultaneously in the US Top 30 in 1959.
Beside his love for Glen Campbell’s peerless golden voice & masterful worldclass guitarwork, my father also loved Mantovani’s wonderful symphony music. I grew up as a child in the ‘60s hearing Mantovani played often on Dad’s stereo. I’ve grown to love and appreciate it even more as the years have gone by and my taste in music has expanded and matured. The sound of Mantovani gets sweeter as I grow older.
This is Mantovani conducting his arrangement of the song “VARIATIONS ON CARNIVAL OF VENICE”, from his 1961 album, “ITALIA MIA”. I hope anyone who happens to read this and gives this special music a listen will enjoy it as much as my dad did. He’s been gone 7-1/2 years now as I type this and I dedicate this upload to him with gratitude for his gift to me of the blissful enjoyment of Mantovani’s wonderful music.
