This is a great little car. I remember these cars back when I was a kid. They were quite enjoyable to drive. They had some get up and go to. But if my wife would let me, I would buy a car like this.
That must be an interesting trans adapter. The 215 had a different bell housing and bolt pattern then the normal BOP one and only shared it with the 61- 63 V6.
Nice. In the 1970s I had the Pontiac Tempest version of that car. I had the four cylinder engine that was half of a 389 and the two speed automatic Corvair trans axle under the trunk. It was sufficient for the 55 mph National speed limit.
This is my kind of car. I used to own a 1961 Buick Special sedan. It was a beige color. They should go back to these body styles, and get rid of the computers and regulations.
When Buick sold this engine to rover in Britain in around 1967, it produced around 150 horsepower. It was used in the p5 model and renamed the p5b. Later if was also used in the p6 and SD1 models and MG, triumph, land rover, range rover and TVR were some other names that used this engine in various guises and horsepower ratings. It was discontinued in the 2000s due to emission control parameters as far as I remember.
Rover didn't take "this" engine... this car has the wider Olds version swapped in... Rover used the Buick version that looks like a narrow Buick 'nailhead'... but isn't... it fits better into narrow engine compartments... gives vastly better access to spark plugs and exhaust manifold bolts... like in my MG Midget... both versions were 155 HP with 2 bbl. carb... Buick up to 200 HP with 4 bbl. carb... Olds 180 HP with 4 bbl. carb., 215 HP with turbocharger... 300+ HP if turbo is unrestricted: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jzw5W1rRMog.html
@@BuzzLOLOL Definitely the Olds engine. They are a fun little engine. Out of all the ones I had I think all I have left is a buick 4bbl manifold and a 63 Buick alternator bracket.
Not generally a fan of modifications, but this has been done well. Main quibbles are with some of the cosmetic choices: pinstripe and steering wheel being main offenders - to me - plus the seat farbic. And what's a Buick without ventiports :)
What's a Buick with this Olds version of the aluminum 215" V8? A few years ago one of these was driving around town with paint brush applied yellow paint job... when I saw it in junkyard with smashed up front end, I grabbed the Buick engine and manual tranny setup out of it for my '75 MG Midget...
I've never been a fan of this body style. To me it looks like it is coming and going at the same time with that green house. But, whoever owned this car made this one extremely nice. I usually prefer factory correct cars, but again this owner made this car a real beauty. The only thing i would do is add A/C and daily drive it..
