I was a little kid in the 1960s and constantly perused my dad's Electronics Illustrated, Radio-Electronics, Popular Electronics, etc. Very niche content. But extremely nostalgic because such content is rare. I enjoy your title opening and music too. Do a Knight Kit Space Spanner radio if possible. I had one and SW absolutely fascinated me.
Great radio! Wonder if you can fix the bad IF transformer and put it in the Arkay to repair that one. Seems like bad connections to the mica capacitor(s). Quite a drag we can't find many good music stations on AM, mostly sports as you say, and especially in my area, mostly religious as well.
We have two local AM music repeaters out here in Idaho, 690 and 1260. Country on 1290. I can DX a lot of others in the evening and nightttime, 1360, 1410, and there is 1660 in California that plays rock and metal. All of these seem to be FM repeater stations, I have yet to find any AM standalones or clearchannels that are exclusively AM only.
