IMO...This car represents the very finest that Corvette offered it's lucky owners, back in the late 50s-early 60s. This car has it all--the best combo of transmission/engine, as the extra 20hp of the fuel injection model was not worth the hassle of dealing with the injection problems. The styling of this year, was a great combination of classic 1950s "retro", but also was very sleek, hinting at the coming body changes of the next few years. 340hp was very impressive back then, and still is a powerful number in a car like this. I think I saw air conditioning also? Wow, I bet not too many roadster models offered that, back in 1962. I admire this owner for taking the time to make this restoration so excellent, and I too agree, that these types of cars need to be driven, not just put on display. Overall, this is a great video, Lou!

I installed this bolt-on, one-piece front end suspension onto my '32 Roadster back in 1963, rides like a dream unlike the orig leaf spring I-beam setup. Also transplanted the 327/340hp engine + 4-sp BW from the rolled "donor” Vette.

My shop teacher had a 2 toned blk on red 61, so I appreciated you guys telling a bit of differences between a 61 and 62. His was a 283 4bbl 4 speed car, but it still went pretty well. I'm no expert Chevy guy, but I believe that the 340hp 327 had the solid cam, thus the higher redline. Very pleased to see ( and hear) John really get on it. They weren't meant to be babied.

A beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster in that elegant Satin Silver! The restoration work is magnificent and looks like it just came from the dealership. Its lines are very beautiful, and the rear part is already reminiscent of the second successor generation. The interior looked splendid in the sunlight at that time (special mention to the trim and chrome on the instruments). The walk at the end couldn't have been better, with those mountains and valleys as a backdrop. Congratulations to Mr. Castle, for achieving what you achieved in this classic! I wish you a Merry Christmas, Lou, and a Happy New Year with your loved ones!

It could be done!...But I would still respect the need for incorporating the latest safety features. Actually, the latest iterations of Corvette have indeed made for great looking and driving cars, and are definitely much more safe. I am an old Boomer now, and realize that I get too nostalgic when thinking about cars like this 62 beauty. I love that retro style so much!..But no airbags, no side protection built into the body, steering wheels and columns that can crush and kill you in an accident, brakes that need conversion to modern systems, etc make me aware that these types of cars were hazardous to drive, especially at higher speeds! So I do appreciate what the new Corvettes have to offer.

There is nothing like the first generation of Chevrolet Corvettes. These cars had a sporty appearance for their time and there were a number of improvements over the first generation years, such as more powerful V8 engines and a four speed manual transmission, which gave the first generation corvettes more power and faster acceleration. However it would take later generations to improve the handling and braking characteristics. Also this car is only lightly modified in a very important area. Installing a dual master cylinder with front disc brakes sure helps in the important area of being able to stop the car.
