My thoughts exactly. Plus wrong welding technique, wrong choice of tools etc. Making it more difficult to do the job properly next time. Sad.

My first motorcycle, I was 16. I have owned many motor cycles since 1965, I am sorry to say that my Tiger Cub was the worst bike I ever owned, the electrics were dreadful, it kept wearing out big end bearings, and it leaked oil all over the place, just like almost every British bike of that era. Great video though! Thanks!

Me too, bought a touring cub in 1969 and that lasted 6 months before the big ends went. My local motorbike shop had an old trials cub going for £25 which was cheaper than getting the ends done so I basically bought that and swapped the number plates over. The trials Cub was great with a 54 tooth rear sprocket - great for fast getaways but only a top speed of about 60! Great fun, had the mushroom points which you could turn whilst driving!!.

I remember the Cub well. Although only 200cc, it produced a great bark from the exhaust. However, physically it was a tiny bike & anybody over 5' 8" riding it looked like a Circus Clown riding one of the tiny 2 wheel miniature bicycles.

What a super rare find. Most of these have been well gone for over 40 years, at least. This is going to be a gem and worth restoring (dare I say not all are worth the time, effort and expense, e.g. some common, old, small capacity Japanese bikes).

I love watching these videos but two things stand out.. first you use chemical paint stripper rather than sand blasting which seems to me to be quite an inefficient way to do it. Second you seem to have spray painted directly onto the bare metal of the frame without a coat of primer?

It cost just as much to restore a small bike as it is a big one. Therefore you will not gain your initial investment back with a smaller bike. Still it's nice to see one brought back from the dead.

In 1964, I owned two Triumph Tiger Cubs, and both of them were runners - of sorts! These bikes with the Unit Construction engine - just had to be the worst machine that Triumph sold in the UK! The Alloy Casings could not remain tight (or even oiltight). Threads in the Alloy Crank Case (both sides) became stripped - out!! When one Cub broke down, I had a 'second' machine, and simply switched over the number plates. It was the only way that I could get to work, always on tenterhooks wondering if I would make it home again. They just had to go...........
